Neuropathic Pain Killers

Dear all,

These past few days I’ve been in quite a lot of pain with dull ‘shocks’ or pulses in my head, left leg and left arm (the head ones are all over so I don’t think thats trigmenal neuralgia?).

I’ve also developed a buzzing kind of in my head which is driving me CRAZY. I literally can’t sleep. After reading the forums I understand these types of pain might only be combatted by a neuropathic painkiller? Can these be prescribed without a diagnosis of MS? What are your experiences of these especially with this kind of pain if you experience it?

I think the buzzing plus lack of sleep is a lethal combination - haha

Hi Emma My GP prescribed amytriptyline for neuro pain, which seems to be working for me. Xx

Hi Emma,

I have been put on Amitryptiline and it works for many people but I have had awful nightmares which I read is part of ‘known side effects’.I don’t have a diagnosis confirmed yet and was given a precription.

I do think it’s worth trying and I will be trying something different until I find something I can tolerate. I do feel for you with the discomfort and the buzzing (like a generator in your head) it’s horrible!

Get in touch with your GP for advise…

Hope it works for you

Dee xx
