Has/is anyone suffered/suffering with nerve pain? I am at the moment in my left arm. It is affecting my writing as I’m left handed. I’m taking neurontin 300mg and solpadol. My question is how long will this last? I’m also fighting off the flu at the moment, not really looking forward to Christmas, I don’t feel like eating.
might want to get it looked at when you can since it is your dominant hand, it could be other things rather then just "normal"nerve pain. I’ve got tennis elbow right now, and it can at times feel like nerve pain but its not. flu is def not helping what ever it is get better, so hopefully you get better soon.
Amitriptyline sorted the bulk of my nerve pain. Been on it since 2000. Nerve pain can be so hard to remedy. It’s probably a matter of trial and error! I take 75mg a night and wouldn’t like to be without it!
You have to put your body through possible nasty side effects when searching for what helps.
I’m agreeing with our wise wheeled one Boudica aka Poll amitriptyline is brilliant for nerve pain. I honestly couldn’t go without my nightly dose 50mgs. It stops me from getting shooting pains & cramps in my legs & means I can get a decent sleep through the night without waking up constantly in pain. It obviously doesn’t take it all away but it really does help. I’d say to your gp about trying it on a lower dose and see how it goes. Definately is a lot of trial and error on the medicine hunt that’s for sure!
Thank you to everyone for your replies. The pain relief I am on works well so I don’t think I need anything else. I don’t get any pain at night which is lovely the only thing that wakes me us is my bladder at 4-5 in the morning which is not good.
Quick question for the ladies if I may, I can’t stand or walk at the moment, I am due a smear this month and don’t to know what happens? Last time I was able to get onto and off of things on my own but won’t be able to this time. I don’t want to miss it.
I personally decided to go without smear tests. Not exactly for the same reasons (although I did think of the same issues that you face). I decided that I’d take my chances so made it clear to my GP that I’d thought about it and decided not to have the tests.
But in your position, perhaps the best solution is to phone your surgery, or wherever you have your smear tests, and explain your worry. Maybe the nurse who does the smear will phone you back and explain how they go about testing people with similar mobility problems.
Contact your practice nurse and let her know so arrangements can be made to help you. It maybe that the have a electric bed that goes up and down to allow easy transfer and use stirrups if necessary for the procedure. If not I’m sure that she can find somewhere in your area that has this facility, hope this helps.
Please, please don’t forsake your smear test for any reason.I’m sure you surgery or maybe the local woman clinic will be able to appreciate your problems.I get so angry when I hear of women not going for smears.it’s so so important.in my case I had a miscarriage so doctors didn’t do my smear when due ,result 1massive haemorrhage followed 5/6weeks later getting full hysterectomy due to cervical cancer.I was only 27 at the time so no matter what age or reason it’s not worth the risk.
