muscle wasting in both wrists

Hi all! Does anyone here have muscle atrophy/wasting in wrists? I have brain lesions but I’m not yet diagnosed with MS. I’m wondering if this can happen all of the sudden and NOT as a consequence of inactivity. For almost 7 month I had a job in which I had to do repetitive moves with my hands and I’m sure this caused some damage but. My next app with the neurologist is in July and now that I have atrophy I’m thinking it might be the worst. Many thanks

I’m not sure I understand your question. If you’re asking whether MS can cause sudden onset muscle weakness, then yes, certainly it can. Is that what you mean? In my own case at least, there’s been nothing wrong with the muscles: the problem is that the neural messaging from the central nervous system has been disrupted so the instructions aren’t getting through so the affected muscles don’t work properly and get fatigued far sooner than they should. Of course over extended underuse/immobility skeletal muscle will quickly waste as anyone who has ever had an arm or a leg immobilised in plaster knows. But that wasting is secondary, not primary to the disease process of MS, as I understand it.
