MRI results...

Hi, Just to update everyone on my MRI findings- it was all clear! The consultant (MS specialist) said beforehand that he suspected it would be as although I have a lot of pins and needles, muscle twitches, dizziness, tremor, buzzing sensations in legs, tingly spine & weak limbs, my sensation & reflexes were normal. The only thing he remarked on was slight narrowing at the top of my neck which he said could cause a trapped nerve in the future. I was relieved to say the least, especially because my GP had said to me she didn’t think the MRI wild be clear. He couldn’t explain why I had episodes where my left foot goes cold, but right one doesn’t. He also explained the funny bowel squeezing movements i occasionally experience as stress-related (IBS type symptom). Overal he feels anxiety can be blamed for most if my symptoms & he was 99% certain it wasn’t MS- this was reassuring & is good enough for me. I told him they found a vitamin d deficiency after my blood tests - he said that could explain the weakness but not all my symptoms. I am sure there are others who will disagree & reading on google, I have come across people who have had dizziness, muscle twitching etc from a deficiency. He said to continue taking amytriptiline for a while if I need it. He is discharging me & will refer me for cogntitve behavioural therapy as he thinks this will help. I hope my symptoms improve & I can get on with life as before. Who knows what the future holds but after joining this forum I know if I do end up with MS, then life is by no means over. Can I take the opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me & answered the various questions i’ve had- Rizzo (Karen) in particular, who I am full of admiration for. Best wishes, Anon 25

What a lovely post Anon25!

I am pleased that you do not have ms. What a relief!

A friend of mine had CBT and found it very helpful (unrelated to ms) so may be worth a try.

I hope your symptoms improve so you can move forwards and get on with your life.

The support is still here for you if you still need it regardless of a negative ms diagnosis.

Best wishes

That’s really good news, My neuro phoned me yesterday and gave me results from my brain cervical, spine and neck MRI were all clear too. My symptoms twitchy right eye, tingly nose Pins and needles right foot and right hand at bedtime Stiffness on hand arm right side during day Tiny twitches calves although I cannot see them I was delighted that clear but was wondering whether I should ask for nerve conduction. Tests to be done although neuro didnt mention this at all.after I have dr googled and got huge anxiety re ms, motor neurone and Parkinson’s Any thoughts anyone?

Hi, I think you need to stick with neuro, as you are still un-dx`d. There is obviously summat not quite right.

scaring yourself with thoughts of stuff like MND and Parkinsons will only make you more anxious…as if you aren`t already anxious enough.

I continued to see neuros and have tests for 14 yrs. I now have a dx of spastic paraparesis/cause unknown, but it defo isnt MS, as was previously suggested.

Hang in there chuck!

I have been dx with depression since i was 16, i have tried most of the anti d drugs. But nothing works better than cbt. I had about six months of cbt, it really changed my out look on life. If you get a good therapist the sessions will be amazing. The first session was a little awkward pouring your heart out to a stranger, but you get used to it quickly. They are very good at what they do. I still get stressed but i can now control my mind set and keep looking on the brightside all the time.

A good session of cbt and you feel like you have had a good night sleep.

all the best

Darren

Glad to hear you’ve had a good consult and you are very welcome for any help I was able to give.

CBT can be excellent - I hope it works really well for you

Thank you everyone (& apologies for the spelling mistakes in my original post- just noticed them now!) I also hope CBT will be helpful - i am not really an anxious person but maybe the vit d deficiency caused symptoms which were odd & anxiety made it worse…who knows?! Can I just add for people who are interested, I have started taking vit b12, omega 3 fish oil supplements & black seed oil (used by many in the Middle East) daily alongside the high dose vitamin d3 tablets prescribed, to help with the symptoms & am hopeful these will benefit me. Anon25 xx

Hi Anon
