Moods and ms

Just wondered if anyone finds themselves in really foul moods, for no discernible reason, that they’re unable to shake off? I’m not depressed/stressed about anything, just have random days (maybe one a month) where I wake up in an awful mood and seem intolerant to everything and everyone around me. Next day I’ll be back to usual and having to do some damage control. Is this a possible ms side effect thing, can anyone else relate? Or am I just a miserable cow?! Thanks

Hi Anon,

I get this. I can actually go into a rage. I think it is actually a physical symptom of MS. I will be fine for weeks and then I’ll just explode. It’s not nice. I take Omega 3, vit B12, Floradix and st John’s Wort. These really help me. All are mood lifters but in combination, they work really well. I know that women on the pill can’t take st John’s Wort, as it reduces it’s efficacy.

Even if it is not a direct symptom, we have MS, we are bound to get a bit vexed at times. We have a lot to deal with.

Hope that this helps.

Hi Anon Like Adrian, I too have a day or so a month where I can just blow ( or feel like I want to ) which is very out of character for me. So I am going to say yes, I believe it is a MS thing, because like you, there is no other reason I can think of. Not even PMT, because it happens randomly. So in essence, I don’t think you are a miserable cow, otherwise that would make me one too ;-))

Thanks guys, good to know I’m not the only one! Feel like Jekyll and Hyde! I already take b12 but will definitely look on to the others you mentioned. As frustrating as it is for us not to be control of our emotions, it must be harder for our families, so willing to try anything!

I do recommend Omeg3 1g. I get mine from Boots, max strength. 3 for 2. Works out as £18 for 180. They are really good ones. Did buy others from online but they were off. :frowning: I take one in the morning but if i am feeling a bit moody in the afternoon, I take one then aswell. Good for brain function and are anti-inflamatory aswell.

I can totally relate to this but i was always a moody sort and the MS just added to it.

I do think suffering from a long term illness can make anybody prone to mood swings. My family let me know when i go too far! sometimes i don’t even realise i am doing it
