Hi all Does anyone else get a strong metallic taste in their mouth? I get it every few months, accompanied by headaches and some altered sensation in my face. Thanks in advance for any replies. Kaz xx
I had metallic taste but only during courses of steroids, 3 times this year. It was awful but went soon after completing steroid course.
Thank you for your replies
I haven’t been on steroids since my last relapse in July.
Funnily enough I saw a dentist last month for the first time in 10 years (I have a phobia) and he repaired a couple of old pieces of dental work but said everything else was fine.
Its the accompanying facial numbness that I find most odd!

Hi Kaz - I had a metallic taste in my mouth for a couple of weeks but it turned out to be a result of eating too many pine nuts - apparently this causes it. So in my case purely down to diet - haven’t eaten them since and not had the problem return. I do love pine nuts in salads but hey ho small price to pay. It took a few days to go after foregoing the nuts.
I love pine nuts too, but sadly my partner doesn’t so haven’t had them in years! The diet link is interesting though xx
Your symptons could be indicative of a TIA (mini stroke). Have a chat with your GP just to put your mind at ease.
I have this regularly but it’s due to renal probs and a build up of toxins - not nice. I have started to use a mouth wash called Ultradex which really helps. I also get a horrible taste like the old fashioned perming lotion that my mum used to use in the 70’s!
Hi
I have had a metallic taste in my mouth in the past.I never did find out the cause but have read that it can be due to anxiety. Or it could have been the rebif. I had it for a few months and then have not had it again since. x
