One scared newbie here. Long story short, I’m nearly 60 and suffer severe mental health problems. Been on the head meds forxa long time. Been to the docs twice in probably 10 years, I have anxiety and depression. Over the last 15 years my bodily health has declined and i am afraid to go to the docs with my ailments. I have all the symptoms of ms. From painful hair follicles right down to burning hot feet, not forgetting everything in between. How can i convince my gp that it’s not in my head?
Well done for posting this! It’s a step in the right direction. My feeling is that you should most definitely got and see a doctor to try and find out what’s going on in your body. It’s probably particularly scary for you because it’s not something you have much experience of! Let them know on the phone that you’re especially anxious so at least you’ve raised it. Then I’m afraid you need to trust the process. I wish you all the best - but just do it!!!
Thank you claire. My hubby is off work for the next 18 days, we are hoping to pop into the surgery for a word. Seriously not looking forward to it. The last time i went to the docs for a blood test, i had a massive panic attack, but sometimes you have to put your big girl pants on and just do it.
Hi StelJo. Just wondering, have you ever been offered any ‘talking therapy’ for your anxiety- depression?
