Hi all. I was diagnosed earlier this year and one of the treatments the doctors have prescribed is 10mg/night Amitriptyline. They have been very good for giving me a good night sleep. Since I started taking them though I was firstly on sick leave and recently just working day shifts. So taking one at night before bed is straightforward. In a few weeks my shift pattern will be going back to normal where I work 2 day shifts then 2 12hr night shifts. I presume I should take the pills before I sleep. This would then mean one day I will not take one and the day I finish I will take 2(one in the morning after the shift) then again that evening before bed. Has anybody else had this issue with medication.
I have now seen a couple of doctors about this and they have said that it is ok to take the Amitryptline before I go to sleep, so therefore on the last day of my pattern I can take one in the morning and then one in the evening. I am yet to try this as my night shifts haven’t started yet.
i’m glad your doctor’s advice was what you wanted.
amitryptiline is great for getting me off to sleep but if i take it earlier or if its still in my system, i daren’t drive.
good luck with the shifts (oops i missed the “f” out of shifts and then choked laughing)

Ha ha, my doctor warned me about driving, but I tend not to take it till after nine at night anyway, by which time I am pretty tired anyway. They warned me over taking codeine and driving/using machinery, I was like "oops, too late really I’ve been doing that for ages
