This made me really really angry. I am not usually one for Big Pharma bashing but to me this just smacks of Teva, the makers of Copaxone, desperately trying to get the last dregs of money out of their injectable and trying to prevent a better alternative getting to market.
For someone who is unable to take ANY of the injectables and who was one of the very few world wide who was on the first oral Cladribine only to have that one yanked from the market half way through my treatment I am getting very upset by the injectable Vs oral wars being carried out by the Pharma companies…

"Teva, the producer of glatiramer acetate, has asked the FDA not to approve BG-12, citing safety concerns. Teva filed a citizen’s petition requesting that the FDA refrain from approving any new drug for the treatment of MS until the FDA has considered the recommendations of the appropriate expert advisory committee. No meeting of the FDA’s Advisory Committee for BG-12 is planned. Importantly, no Advisory Committee was needed for teriflunomide, which has recently been licensed. So why Teva’s change of mind? Do they have MSers interests at heart?"
I’ve always maintained that the drug companies don’t want us to get better.I’ve been told I’m a synic and that of course they have our interests at heart…
I wouldn’t go that far Wb. I don’t think it is that they don’t want us to get better… it is just that they want us to do it on THEIR drugs and not someone elses. Money, money, money…
Im afraid woblyboy maybe right. If the FDA find in favour teva/ terror they will have some serious questions to answer. I just imagin they must have had a heart attack when someone come up with a pill to help people with ms. BG-12 is something i wanted to take when i first was told all ms meds are injection only (well the main 4 are for rrms).
To be fair, this sort of behaviour is not exclusive to the drugs industry and just another example of dirty rotten capitalism (or greed). It’s the same reason our banks fiddle the libor rate and indulge in money laundering for gangsters.
