Hello fellow MS warriors.
I was diagnosed with RRMS in 2012 and for the last few months I’ve been really struggling with the worst relapse I’ve ever had. Walking very badly and only with a stick and support from someone on my other arm. A lot of neuropathy, pain and numbness, just starting on Pregabalin.
I was sent for an MRI and the results came back as stable with no new lesions so I’m very confused. I have a telephone appointment with my neurologist next week so will have lots of questions.
I took a 5 day course of steroids which I finished about 5 weeks ago and I have no improvement.
I just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation and could offer any advice on what I should ask the neurologist about (further steroids or treatments)?
Thank you so much x
Hello @Loublou
How are you? I would recommend physiotherapy exercises. From experiences of heavy relapses in the past and after a course of prednisolone steriods, I find stepping up the physio a bit helps speed up the recovery.
It’s a good idea to get in touch with your MS nurse or team and ask to be referred to a physiotherapist, if they haven’t done so already.
Best regards,
JP

Hi there, not me except after I had Covid and the MS symptoms became much, much worse ( could hardly walk). I can’t remember exactly how long it took things to subside but it was over 6 months. Have you had any infections recently or periods of stress?
Thank you for your reply, that sounds like a good plan, I will look into it.
Thank you for your reply. It all kicked off in March/April when I was under a lot of stress. No infections. I feel like I’m making very subtle improvements in the last few days but like you, my previous relapses have taken up to 6 months to improve. Wishing you all the best x
Yeah, stress not good. If I ever feel a bit stressed I make a point of spending some time every day listening to soothing music, doing some mindfulness or just switching off.
