magnesium oil

Hi, I hope you’re all feeling as well as possible x. I bought magnesium oil today from Holland & Barrett & wondered if anyone knows whether It’s ok to use it when on Tecfidera? Also has anyone on here tried it & was it any good? Thanks xxx

I use it Helly. I find it great for stopping my restless legs at night. I know about it if I forget to use it!

I usually spray it into my palm at night and rub in around my knees and calfs. I’m on Tec too. Never even gave that a thought!

I continued to use it when I was on tecfidera and it never caused a problem

Hi, thanks for your responses. I am lucky I don’t have pain or restless legs I want to try it for fatigue. I read online somewhere that it may help. I did think it would be ok to use with Tecfidera but, wasn’t sure…knew you guys would know. The consultant has written to my gp to prescribe Am…? ( can’t remember the name) for the fatigue but, she didn’t seem to have any faith in it. When I’m due my usual prescription I will ask for the fatigue meds but, want to try other things first. God damn this MS!!!

Amitriptyline maybe? Don’t know. Hubby has that for Fibromyalgia.

Hi, that’s the name of it, is it any good for your hubby? I don’t know much about fybromyalgia but, a friend & a brother-in-law has it. His wife brought him again can’t remember the correct name but ‘canabis oil’ which he hasn’t tried yet, trying this weekend while he’s off work.

Let’s just say he knows about it,if he forgets to take it.

Good luck to your friend. I smoke it sometimes if I am having trouble sleeping.

Hi helly

For fatigue it’s likely to be Amantadine rather than Amitriptyline. It is quite commonly prescribed for fatigue. It helps many people, I took it for a few years, until it stopped working for me. I was then prescribed a drug called Modafinil which is a much better drug, but that too stopped working too well eventually. Modafinil is now very difficult to get on prescription which is why your doctor might have suggested Amantadine.

magnesium is also required with calcium to aid the use of D3

Hi Carole,

I read this comment and just wanted to ask, are you sure?

on reading this thread I’m interested in the Magnesium for restless leg as when I meditate my left leg often twitches and mornings my left calf increasingly cramps shortly after waking.

But the Magnesium & Calcium being needed for Vit D3?

I take 5000iu daily and due to being on Tec have my bloods every 3 months for my immune system, they also check my Vit D levels. My readings are typically good/high and I don’t currently take Mg or Ca.

Please don’t take this as criticism I’m just looking to improve my knowledge.

Best wishes

Adam
