Hello, I had a x-ray guided lumbar puncture last Wednesday and I have been feeling rotten since.I was told I may have a headache but this is a real pain (scuse the pun) and i feel a little nauseous intermittently. I’m keeping my fluids up, resting and taking paracetamol. Hopefully it will go soon. I know a lot of people on the forum have had a LP as part of their MS diagnosis. How long did you experience the headache for? Thanks so much, stardust x
Hi ya Stardust, I had a head ache before they had started mine, I would say mine lasted on and off for 3 days, I think others have suffered longer though. Hope you feel better soon Kirsty x x Ps I have pm you back sorry for delay:)
I think most people find the headache lasts at most a week, if they get one. Longer than this and you might need a patch done - it’s a simple procedure done to block a leak of CSF. I’m not sure which Wednesday you’re talking about, but if it was the 1st, then you need to speak to your GP or to your consultant. If it was the 8th, then give it a few more days I think. If it gets worse, then definitely call someone.
Karen x
Thanks for the advice. I feel a bit better this morning - haven’t got a searing pain in my head yet, just a dull ache. It lures me into a fakse sense of security in rhe morning if it doesnt hurt- by lunchtime it hurts again. Imfuessing i feel better in the mornings as i have been lying flst. Hopefully this will be the day I start getting back to normal! Karen, thanks for your note. It was only 5 days ago so I will persevere. I don’t think I’m leaking CSF as it appears to have healed well. Xx
Sorry about all my iPhone typos!!!
