Lloyds Pharmacies in Sainsbury Stores

I usually have mine (and husbands) prescriptions handled by my local Lloyds situated in a Sainsbury Store (easy to get to - parking etc.) Having already closed down the 2 nearest pharmacies to us, Lloyds are now closing all the Sainsbury’s based pharmacies, and Boots have closed their pharmacy/store that was closest to us.

Off to hunt down a new pharmacy that (fingers crossed) wont be closed down any time soon.

Try Lloyds Direct - they deliver to your house for no extra cost. They’re really good.

I’ll have to look into that.

I know the online pharmacies are easy and convenient …but that is part of the reason why local pharmacies are closing.

Also ( I work in a pharmacy ) we get people who come in saying their medication hasnt been delivered and they want us to help them!!..sorry … a bit annoyed at them!

I take your point. Our GP has a dispensing service, and we used that until moving house left us still within the GP catchment area but, for some mysterious reason I never got to the bottom of - presumably a commercial stitch-up of some sort - now no longer eligible to use their dispensary. That’s the only reason I swapped.

sorry - I wasnt having a go at you or anyone - its personal choice and its what is convenient.
Your point about dispensing/GP catchment area is something to do with the distance you are from another pharmacy I think. I dont get it either - my mum and step dad live at the same address and he can get meds dispensed at the Drs, but she cant - work that one out!!

I’d much rather have a local pharmacy/pharmacist but almost all of them local to us have been closed down.

Why can’t you get them delivered to your door? X

Shoddy postal services and a track record of thieving neighbours.

Update: Friday 10th - Courier & Postie dropped off a couple of items at the front door (which is down a path and out of sight from street) - husband was in front room upstairs, saw the drop off, decided to nip to the loo before picking the items up off the doorstep; in the space of less than 5 minutes some thieving git nicked the 2 deliveries - which were - a 20kg sack of chicken feed (which was in a box for courier delivery - clearly marked as chicken feed) and a jiffy bag containing my onion/shallot/garlic sets for the allotment! Yes, 20 kg of CHICKEN FEED and some Onion Sets !!!

Another, honest, neighbour found the chicken feed, still in the ripped open box whilst walking his dog and delivered it to me, but the onion/garlic package had been ripped open and the contents chucked who knows where. At least the chucks got their food.

This is why I can’t have meds delivered to my door.

Update 2: Against my better judgement - I decided to give Lloyds Direct a go - everything has to be signed for, yada yada - It took the better part of a week for them to get the prescription, I paid for next day delivery to make sure that someone was in all day to sign for it - Royal Mail sat on it for 24 hours in their London hub, it has now made it to the Bristol Main Sorting Hub, it has not yet gone to my local sorting office - no-one will be at home tomorrow to sign for the delivery, you have to wait 48 hours before collecting parcels that need to be signed for from my local sorting office, all of which means that I am going to run out of my medication(s).

I tend to avoid at all costs these online service pharmacies how many times it didn’t arrive or delayed I lost count. Plus they don’t tell you when something is out of stock.

Then I tried local ones not in chains and I don’t know why because they can’t compete with the big ones I end up with stomach cramps with some of pills given.

Luckily I eventually I found Superdrug with a chemist and a pharmacist who was concerned with my condition. Ensures I get correct brands etc. Plus is open weekends and late.

I think it’s more testing the options around you. Told Boots is supposed to be the best but I have a large store nearby and the queues are always shocking.

I will be using a relatively local non-chain pharmacy that has been recommended by a friend.

Unfortunately my local Boots has been closed down and the next nearest looks like it will be closing down soon too.

I used to work for Boots - I will never go there for medication! They are short staffed all the time so the staff which are there are under pressure and mistakes will happen. The staff are told to link sale so you are asked too many questions. The prescriptions are quite often sent to another branch for dispensing - they havent got the prescription or stock and you wait ages to be told you cant have your medication.

I now work in an independant pharmacy and its so much better. The drugs are the same as you would get in any other store - we use the same wholesalers as boots/ lloyds/ day lewis etc. but it depends how the drs write the prescription. If dr writes a brand we have to give the brand, but if he writes the generic, you can get any make(same drug but maybe different base, colour, shape etc) But we can give much better service

If possible go independant every time

There are plenty of physical activities for people like you. You can find a lot of information on the Internet. My friend has diabetes and he started taking medicine [link removed] and vitamins at once for him). He was also forced to start doing sports even though he didn’t want to. But now it is his favorite activity. It’s sad that he realized this only after he got sick

A bit off topic, even for a robot.
