Hi all
I dont see nauea referenced as a specific symptom, barring of course what relates to vertigo type issues. Just wondering if others get nausea as a ‘stand alone’ symptom. Am feeling very off colour today with this and also lightheadedness though am walking fine and not off balance, just that feeling you get from hangover or if been on a fairground ride
I have had bouts of lightheadeness over the last couple of years, has come and gone . Went GP once only for it, when really off balance and he sent me for Echocardiogram as heard heart noises (history of aortic stenosis in family) but nothing. As it went away, didnt pursue it (common story i now see across the piece). Migraine has been mentioned few times as possible cause
I dont do well with things like stripey carpets, and have been so nauseous one time walking into a shopping centre that had stripey rubber non slip entrancy thingy that i had to go home. I also have long standing travel sickness/cant tolerate fair rides etc but have just put this down to some kind of vestibular sensitivity as its long standing
Over the last while however getting bit more concerned re this so just wondering re others experiences of this
To to be honest if MS wasnt under query i would likely put it down to something migraine related though its not typical but migraine associations are full of stories of people who dont fit classic situation as often had aura and no headache, but then headaches from nowhere
Its getting worse mind you - like recurrent along with pain under cheek and at eye. In saying that, if migraine was to account for lots, still warrants neurology appt IMHO
thanks
Hi EML,
I know dizziness is a common MS symptom but I’ve also not read anything about nausea in particular, unless related to vertigo like you say. So as a guess I’d say it’s probably caused by something else. I have a lot of the issues you describe, when I hoover our rug at home for example it makes my eyes funny looking at it! I also get travel sick easily etc and bright, busy places always make me feel dizzy and a bit sick.
Way back a GP put mine down to low blood pressure. Not sure if that would apply to you? She advised orange juice and believe it or not a chocolate bar when it happened! It does help but obviously there are more healthful ways to keep your blood pressure from dropping too low! I also find sunglasses help in busy shops - department stores etc where you have lots of lights and glare from shiny floors etc.
Have you got a Neuro appointment coming up? I’d definitely note it down and mention it. But it doesn’t stike me as anything that needs to be seen to urgently, just next time you’re there xx
Thanks charl My BP is usually textbook perfect. Iron and b12 ok too. I have T1D si chocolate and OJ a no go- it would help if low bloid sugar but i always check when lightheaded but its never BG related I
I would definitely just mention it in your next appointment. It’s a horrible feeling so well worth bringing up as if it’s severe they can always suggest anti sickness tablets. I’ve never taken them but have been offered them before so sure they would for you too. It doesn’t sound like it’s a blood pressure thing at all then but for what it’s worth eating some protein with each meal (you prob already know this being T1D) is really good for preventing spikes and crashes x
