New Symptom - Any Advice.....

Hi,

I wonder if any of you can help me. I’ve recently been getting bouts of really bad nausea, something which I never suffered from before. Is this another symptom of my ms, and if so, what can anyone recommend to try and stop it or at least ease it?

Thanks

Hi Madhatter, I have heard that some MSers suffer nausea when they are very dizzy… so a bit like sea sickness.

However nausea is not normally a symptom of MS and I suggest you see your GP and find out what’s causing it. Never assume that something is caused by MS unless absolutely sure.

Hi, I have this problem too, dr said not MS , sent for tests, nothing found. At my next neuro appointment I queried it, was told it is possible to have a lesion on the vomit region of brain. My consultant simply prescribed a tablet called DOMPERIDONE. Problem solved, takes about five minutes to stop the nausea. It’s brilliant, wouldn’t what to be without it. I can take up to three a day, but can usually manage with one or two. Hope this helps, good luck, let me know if I can help with more info

Very interesting Ninagrace… thanks for that. Learn something new every day!

Hi Pat I too suffer with nausea and in the early days vomiting but that is due to my dizziness. I take Cyclizine 50mg when I need it and it works brilliant. Hope you feel better soon x

Sorry I’ve addressed to pat and its not pat who’s done the post, very sorry blame the ms x

i get nausea quite bad, once had as part of a nasty relapse, and lost 3 stone, i couldnt eat for it, it can be caused if you have a lesion on the part of the brain that makes you feel sick,i take a ginger supplement and it seems to take it off.

I have been getting nausea for years now and was told it was a symptom of ME/CFS which I was diagnosed with before being diagnosed with MS. It comes over in waves and can go on for hours, normally it starts when I go to do something quickly, but anything can set it off.

I find it really annoying as each time a wave of nausea comes over it is like the first time and is really overwhelming and makes me feel like I will actually be sick, but then I remember that I wont be and this can go on time and time again.

I don’t take anything for it

I hope you get it sorted okay

Hi everyone

Thanks for the advice and info. Will see if I can get an appointment with the GP just to get it checked out. Can’t hurt afterall and if they can give me something to stop it, it would be great. Hate feeling like this.

I get nausea too but don’t think its related to MS. Just thinking you haven’t been taking any iron have you?

One type makes me feel very sick. Would be interested to know if they think that it is related to MS as it never occured to me

it might be related.

Hi mad hatter I havent really had this one ! But I have spoken to people who have experienced this. Hope you get some rest soon. Hope X

Hi everyone

Well I saw the GP about my nausea and thankfully I saw a GP who understands and didn’t just brush it under the carpet or treat me like some neurotic idiot and send me away with a pat on the head like they usually do. This one gave me some medication to relieve the nausea when it hits, and so far it seems to be helping. Just got to keep an eye on things now and go back if anything else develops.

Thanks for all your advice!

Hi, so pleaded you’ve got something…hope it helps as well as my domperidone. I’ve had the problem for about three years now and if it had been down to my GP I would probably still be feeling permanently sick. You are amazingly lucky to have a good GP…I had an incredible one a few years ago, now not so lucky but my neuro is brilliant. Thanks for letting us know, Good luck N

Hiya.

Yup! This one is on my list over the years. Nausea. Not too bad, though. Sometimes I wonder if there is a trigger. Like a bad nights sleep, stress, fatigue, dodgy food, meds or even the dreaded UTI. Or it could be use one of those things that flare up now and again.

I have never taken anything for it and it has lessen a lot over the last few months.

Take care,

Marty
