Letter or Text message

That’s interesting elljay, lets see if some more do, I’m spms and never been on DMD’s

Hi, Does the text come from your surgery.? Keep safe
Rosie xx

Just had TXT also.

However, I think this is a standard TXT being sent out by Government.

Its not from my surgery or MS clinic.

I’m SPMS not on DMD

My wife received same TXT, she’s not in the vulnerable group but is down as carer, so maybe thats why she had it ?

Personally I think many people will receive this same TXT over the next day or so, I dont think its the same “Vulnerable Group” TXT/MESSAGE that we’ve been discussing here.

It sounds like a text thats sent to everyone in the country.

Hi, I’ve just received mine and so has my husband and he’s not elderly, or ill, so I think this is the 1 that everyone is getting, I’m not sure we’ll get anything else.

Recieved mine also as did my mum but it’s the one being sent out to everyone I have a friend whose husband has received the other text but he is currently having treatment for cancer. In fact my mother has received the same text twice today as she’s just rang me to say.

Sue – excellent and informative post.

Hi all, so I’ve got RRMS and had my last Ocrevus 2 weeks ago. I’m a frontline health care worker in the NHS. I’ve been off for the last couple of weeks but rang my manager today, who apparently has done a risk assessment and said I can go back to work but just not in a patient facing capacity, I can be in an office and do other things, off duty, guidelines etc. I haven’t received a letter as being very high risk so I guess I’m ok to do this? Thanks

The text from gov.uk goes to everyone in the country today.

Everyone in the country healthy or not got this gov.uk text.I did.The other text,or letter from the NHS or drs will be sent to the very high risk group.i.e anyone with cancer on chemo,COPD or had an organ transplant.I have MS but will not be getting one of those.

Thankyou Sue…plain and clear…but some folk are still confused…DMDs make you more susceptible.

The surgery said I will be getting a letter from the nhs later this week.

In my (admitedly amateur) opinion, you should not be at work. You should probably be included in the at risk group and stay at home.

Ask your manager to read this: https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/ocrevus-ocrelizumab and maybe https://www.gene.com/medical-professionals/medicines/ocrevus then make a decision as to whether you should be out of the house at all.

Ocrevus is an immune suppressing drug, thus you are at greater risk of catching viruses. Also, you are at greater risk of chest infections and lung problems.

Have another conversation with your manager when s/he has read the appropriate information about your drug treatment. Then if s/he still thinks you should be at work, forward the information to your occupational health team and ask for their intervention.

Just my opinion, but these days it’s better to be safe than employed.

Sue

Only some DMDs are immunosuppressive. Most are not, therefore most people on a DMD are as safe as everyone else (or you could put it ‘as unsafe’ as everyone else!), unless they are in the very high risk group because of some other risk factor.

Sue

My text, as from gov.uk and has been followed up, ith a letter so after reading all of the posts I have concluded it is my Crohns meds which make me high risk.

I had a text 2 days ago to say something about it all. BUT ACCORDING to the government list for priority shopping i am not vulnerable to the virus.

so i am confused.

We all got a text saying that ‘you must stay at home’. It was an arrangement made between the government and the mobile phone providers. If you got a letter telling you that you personally are especially vulnerable, that’s different.

The chances are CC that although like everyone you should stay at home to protect yourself and others, except for food shopping or to collect medication, you’re not one of the most vulnerable.

Stay safe and as much as you can, stay at home.
