Hi all
So should we be expecting to get a letter telling us to isolate for 12 weeks?
Thanks
Have you seen my post, letter or text, I’m asking the same question
No I haven’t. Just wondering if we will receive a letter
If you look on the gov.uk list.We are not in the group that will be getting a letter.Yes we are at some risk because of MS but for now we have to follow the guidelines for social distancing. The very high risk group.i.e people with cancer on chemo, and people who have had an organ transplant and severe COPD and heart disease will be getting the letters but for now us with MS wont.Boris caused confusion with this yesterday he made it sound like we would ALL be getting letters that are on the gov.uk list but its just the people in the very high risk that will be getting letters from the NHS or there dr.We are not being told to self isolate for 12 week like the very high risk group we just need to take care and avoid going out unless we really have to,and to avoid crowds like everyone at the moment. The list is on gov.uk and the guidelines are on here on the home page. Its so confusing i have been thinking all week that we were going to have to self isolate for 12 week when its the over 70s and the very high risk that have to.We would need to self isolate for 14 days if we started with symptoms of the corona virus though like everyone else. The only advice i will take notice of is the NHS and the gov.uk site and the home page on here.
the virus SARS-CoV-2, is MILD so warning the reason why it is spreading is because people may simply think they have a mild cold.
its not the warning if you have headache, high temp and cough you should be worried about.
IF you have a mild cold the droplets can infect someone within the 1 metre rule so keep away from anyone regardless if they have cough or sneezing 1 METRE. thats the spread 1 metre.
COVID 19 is the name for the disease not the virus. SARS sounds so much scarier and that is why if you are immune suppressed with any virus it will affect your lungs.
so 1 metre rule is very important so you can still talk to people but 1 metre. the reason why it has spread so much my cousin in italy told me was because they gave out conflicting advice. HIGH TEMP, headache and dry cough.
being the time of cold virus and flu people ignore their symptoms thinking they had just a cold not the new virus SARS-CoV-2. that is why over 5,000 have died majority vulnerable. they had more pass with flu last year.
so lets keep to the 1 metre rule, hand wash hand wash, get some fresh air. if you have care workers your in your right to make sure they wear a mask if they have to get close to you as it can pass with no symptoms like above but maybe one small sneeze is all it takes if they have it.
that is why the government must test test test.
self isolating is fine, but you still need to have some life so self distance as well. go out and get fresh air for a walk wait until its quiet.
whats the point of shutting pubs when they have all the supermarkets open full of older people doing their shopping its madness. madness, they need to also restrict to 10 at a time, 1 metre, 1 metre.
Italy learnt the hard way.
go safe.
the virus is SARS-CoV-2. not COVID 19 that is the name of the disease. the virus is genetically linked to SARS 2003. lets get real here ok.
thats why it effects the lungs in immune suppressed people.

2 metre rule
Hi All
Yes it is a 2 metre distance between people.
I am going to be blunt now. Sorry if I offend I don’t mean to. But. The message has to get through somehow.
I know Boris hasn’t enforced self isolating. Yet. His messages have been too confusing. And way too soft.
Look at Italy. People are dying in their thousands. Not just the old and vulnerable.
This is not flu. Nothing like it.
Everyone. Please see what is happening. Do not wait for a letter or text. Self isolate now. EVERYONE. IT IS SELFISH NOT TO.
Look after those old and vulnerable from a distance. Drop their supplies on their door steps. If you can, stay away from them. If you can’t as they can’t look after themselves, take extra precautions.
Otherwise. Everyone stay home. The NHS workers are begging you to. YES BEGGING. (See videos on BBC HEWS).
ANNE
I second every word of that Anne, government guidelines are so wishy washy its unbelievable, I would urge everyone to just stay home if at all possible. Myself and my hubby are high risk for other reasons also, heart disease, asthma aswell as myself and MS, but my hubby is waiting to see if he gets a letter as being extremely vulnerable as he’s on immunosuppressant therapy also, the advice is so vague and swings from one thing to the other day by day, I really believe we have to do what we need to for ourselves regardless of governmental advice, stay safe everyone x
Thanks, CC - excellent, rational information.
My husband has just received a text telling him to stay indoors for 12 weeks as he has COPD
My care agency boss has just rung me to ask of I am happy for carers to still come in. I have said yes…everytime a carer comes we have the same discussion…are your other clients alright…are you alright…I`m alright…hubby is alright too.
AS SOON as any of us feel different we will stop the calls.
How are others thinking re carers?

The government have said they are sending out 1.5 million letters to people who are in the vulnerable group, if you do the maths 1.5 million letters can’t include everyone on the original government list, The authorities will only ever cherry pick a very limited number of people as anything else will take too long and become far too unwieldy.
If the Government acts with the same speed used to tackle the virus, I expect the letter will be late.
My husband received a text from NHS corona virus support
I found some info that explains simply how this virus works. I think it is clear and informative.
