The Government have just announced that people with serious deseases should stay in for 12 weeks. Do you think that this includes MS?
yes
I have looked on the MS Society website and nowhere does it say that people with MS should self-isolate for 12 weeks, although I assume that if you are taking medication that suppresses the immune system, then you are at higher risk of being very unwell (or worse) if you catch Covid-19.
It does report on the BBC.co.uk web page that MS is one of the underlying health conditions.
So you think the BBC knows more about MS than the MS Society?
The worst human virus is PANIC.
The BBC mentioned the GOV.UK guidelines on guidance on social and distancing for all in the UK and protecting older people and vulnerable adults it was published on 16/3/20 and states that people with MS are at increased risk of severe illness from corona virus and we need to follow there guidelines to keep safe.google it.we have to stay away from crowds and public transport as well as a list of other things we should do to keep safe.We are also still at risk even if we donāt take a DMD.
Believe or dontā¦your choice.

There are 2 groups in the govt advice its the 2nd group that are at VERY HIGH risk that need to stay in and isolate for 12 weeks. The FIRST group are in the HIGH risk group which is not as bad as the VERY HIGH RISK group and have to just be more careful and avoid crowds and public transport wherever possible.I think most of us with MS are in the first group. If you are in the 2nd one the NHS or your dr will contact you futher to advise what to do.I think the 2 groups are confusing people i know i was confused when i read it.
My cousin passed away today with covid 19. Itās very real. He did not have MS but was over 70.
Sincere condolences to Linamumof4. A close relative of mine committed suicide very recently. No is sure whether anxiety about C19 had a part to play in this. As Boudica405 rightly says we can all believe what we want to, thank goodness : ) But I am not an Ostrich with its head in the ground, I am a retired Professor of Health Services Research. I am not going to justify position as it may unnerve some people. We need to pull together not apart, although the panic behaviours witnessed so far seem to indicate the inherent selfishness of people, rather than their altruism and empathy with others. I am not doing so good myself at the moment, struggling to breathe and feeling crap, but Iām glad children (excepting babies of mothers with the virus) seem to be immune to C19. Iāve had a āgood inningsā, so canāt complain. Hope all people with MS can unite, as an online community, during this stressful time.
Hi Lina,
Iām really sorry to hear this. Sending condolences to you and your family.

Thank you x
very sad to read that, did he have underlying health issues? we know its here and it can affect vulnerable no doubt like any thing, flu etc, you have to deal with it all the way you know. I LOST my husband to sepsis in 2017 he had underlying health issues. he was fine one minute gone the next so frightening.
everyone has to make their own choices. if you are on immune suppressed regime NO WAY should you go out. no way.
lot of flu about here at the moment so i am keeping well out of the way. however i am more or less housebound anyway at 69.
i cant drive, and it has rained so much cant even go out in my scooter.
really am sorry though for your loss. xxxx
its very sad, big hugs. x
Hi Art1st1c, i totally agree, panic and fear is the worse killer. it can make peoples MS symptoms worse if they stress.
to be honest i wish they would put a black out up over this virus, its all the time constantly and my old ladies in the shelterred where i live are scared to death now. they are so frightened. one was crying as her family wont come and see her.
I can see we will loose a few not to covid but BECAUSE OF IT.
I have started a free raffle to try and cheer them up.
we have asked all the residents to self distance. we have mixture here of working and not working older. some over 90.
we have been left with NO CARE WORKER as they have all been told to work from home, not a lot of good that is. so no one here to calm anyone down.
i am shocked at the lack of empathy in this country. the greedy locust buyiing everything and yet the shops still letting them get awy with it.
supermarkets should prioritise home delivers for ALL KNOWN disabled regardless of age. i cant get any shopping on line from 3rd april. its all booked.
if my daughter goes off sick i am stuffed.
no one knows how many have this virus. there is flu here and cold, and if you ring you just get told to stay at home. and thats it.
my youngest has had a terrible cough is finally feeling better after antibiotics, but they did not want to test here. i dont think she had the virus, the cough is very very dry and continuous, here was spectacularly disgusting lol. mind you she smokes.
I just wish people would be sensible. stop panicking stop buying so much stuff. still no toilet roll i dont get it.
I only have one bottom to wipe a roll lasts me ages lol. my freind they use one a day with 2 kids. jeez.
anyway all we can do is stay safe. sorry your not feeling well.
the trouble is though hun, here there is whooping cough, mumps, chicken pox and scarlett fever this is true. and at the end of the day whooping cough is very dangerous for adults.
and kids.
take care. we have to unite and work together. i have given out food from my own freezers, and toilet roll. to the residents who are needing it.
Thank you Crazy Chic. Pneumonia first out of the blue and unexpected. Just makes Borisās speech real āmany will lose loved onesā XX
Itās just fine mad out there. I totally agree about the KNOWN disabled shoppers. My neighbour going for me. Thatās a brilliant idea Crazy chick, I think we all need distractions. All isolating and 2 sick children one ended up in hospital with symptoms but is now recovered. My 4 go through at least 2 rolls a day of toilet paper! My mums care manager called her a few days ago and they will be paying her a lumpsome to pay a friend to care for her during this time. My eldest has been looking after me, given all thatās going on I can truly say the stress, anxiety and uncertainty has put me back to bed bound. I am physically breaking down, I have had chest pain since yesterday. I donāt want to contact the doctorās they have so much on them already. I went on the NHS doctor app and 111 online both had said to call an ambulance but I wonāt. Please take care xxx
