legs

Hi, ever since my illness went to my spine I have notice I keep streching my legs in bed. Its automatic like my body wants to do it. Its either my leg joints or my muscles its trying to adjust. Does anyone else get this?

i forgot to say, I don’t seem to get cramp. The automatic leg stretching is not painful and I can feel my leg joints adjust. I get a few twitches or spasms in my big left toe most nights. It might be Restless Leg Syndrome or the MS version of that.

I have to do that every morning before I get out of bed. It’s not painful but it feels a bit like a spasm throughout my leg muscles. My OT suggests it’s something to do with the myelin sheath. I’m seeing Neuro tomorrow…will ask him

Hi I get that when I’m lying in bed my legs just stretches right out, it’s not sore or like cramp. It sometime happens when I’m sitting but not as often. I just put it down to one of the many things that happen with MS. Polly x

Hi I do get this more than once a day/night. I`ll stretch my arms and my legs join in and they judder and twitch for quite a while. Yet I cant physically do it myself.

I quite enjoy it. It makes my legs feel real again!

I get exactly that automatic stretching thing too! I think that it’s a type of spam - it’s not painful but it is annoying

Hi

What you’re describing is a condition called Dystonia. It’s my overriding MS symptom and I have spoken at length with my Neuro- Consultant/ MS Nurse about it. Check out the following NHS website for further information. Unfortunately, I couldn’t hyperlink it, because of my browser security settings- http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Dystonia.

Thank you for that link Tracyann  I will of course still mention it to my Neuro tomorrow but will definitely look at the link

Hello anon

I asked the neuro today, about why this happens to me. He said its to do with my brain, waking up on a morning and the slowness of messages being sent to my leg muscles

I have double vision, which is always bad first thing on a morning…hey ho
