Hi, I hope everyone has a little bit of sun as I have this morning. I have really bad spasticity in my left leg. If I bend my knee it tends to bounce up and down. I find it hard to put my heal down to the ground when standing. The pain can be excruciating when it goes in to a full spasm. I’ve even pulled muscles they can be so bad. I’m taking Baclofen, recently upping to 300mg 3 times a day and 200 Amitriptyline at bedtime. These don’t seem to be doing much to help. What do other people take? I’m finding it hard to think through the drug fog that so much Baclofen causes. I’m on holiday at the moment but don’t know how I’ll be able to concentrate at work or drive. Many thanks, Sara x
hi sara
i asked my ms nurse what my meds were for specifically.
she said that tizanidine was for stiffness.
i cant remember what she said about the others.
maybe you could ask for a prescription of tizanidine.
re driving - i take most of my meds in the evening because i get pretty spaced out

Many people find magnesium helps ease spasm and cramp, so might be worth trying, assuming you don’t take it already.
Hi, did you type the right amount of baclofen? Only that`s one helluva dose at 300mg 3 times a day…wow! My maximum was 70mg a day…and that caused my muscles to become so weak that I suffered loads of falls.
Have you ever thought about a baclofen pump? A friend of mine has just had one fittled…well, July last year and it delivers a tiny but just right amount, right where it`s needed.

As Poll has said - You are on a very high dose of Baclofen and Amitriptyline. Baclofen did not suit me - and Tizandidine was just the same. Magnesium - and quite a high amount does help. And you can put the Epsom Salts [magnesium] in your bath.
l use a Sativex spray [under the tongue] - just a couple of sprays a day. lt helps with the spasticity/cramps. Also, l do try to keep doing muscle stretching exercises throughout the day.
A daily low-dose aspirin also will help relax muscles. You can take this at night.
