I have been researching as best as I can about LDN. I have been told by a GP that it works by apparently, making the immune system more active. I can’t tell you the ins and out about this sorry,as still getting to grips with the info myself. However, if LDN makes the immune system more active and this is apparently a ‘good’ thing.
Then how come Echinachea is soo bad to us MSers? As this also makes the immune system more active as to help fight off bugs etc?
I personally have never had a problem when using Echinchea and find it benefits me when I have a cold or virus etc. As I find that I heal a lot quicker n things don’t get as bad as before I started using it; for example.
However, I realise that I might have been naive when I have been using this Pre MS diagnosis tho and who knows what damadge it might have done on the ‘inside’, so to speak. So look forward to reading your replies.
as i understand it ldn does not boost but tries to regulate the immune system. it boost endorphins which then put the body in a better way to regulate whatever ms has mixed up. but am sure one of the knowledgeable folk will be along soon to help out technical jargon/official stuff…
Ahh that would make more sense Elie. Thnx for posting hun
So, it would appear then that the eachinchea is a bad thing for us MSers then.
Ah well, never mind eh!!
that said thou, is it that we (MSers) should just sit n wait for any virus, colds etc to leave? if we actually have a virus etc, should we not try and treat it with things that might speed up recovery?
just to add to ur confusion-i still get colds etc BUT they seem to be intense and short lived. am thinking perhaps my regulated immune system does its job to get rid of it asap?

*ooohhh too much thinking lol

Oh thnx Ellie Hun. Don’t worry about confusing me, as its easy to do lol!
I don’t mind avn lots of info either as it helps me to understand things betr. so fire away hun.
As Ellie has pointed out -LDN boosts endorphin levels - which helps the body ‘sort itself out’ and help regulate immune system. Vit d3 also helps fight against viruses. l [fingers now crossed] very rarely have a cold/flu. So l expect a mixture of ldn/vitd3 is doing some good. l have also taken Echinacea - usually in the winter and can’t say l have felt any disadvantage for taking it. At the first sign of a sniffle - l then take it as l think it helps get you over the virus quicker.
I take high levels vit d3 and since doing so, I have not had a cold. I also find that I am a lot warmer than I was.
They have recently proven that echinacea reduces the incidence of getting a cold by 25%. I thought that exciting the immune system would be a very bad idea having MS but I still do take it if I think I am starting with something.
I am also a bit confused about LDN as I have read that this also excites the immune system. Someone did direct me to an old post where someone is taking Rebif and LDN and the two are working fine together. So, I’m still confused.
