Hi all! I’ve not been on here in ages!!! I’m hoping you can help? I have been on LDN for about 3 years+. I get a private prescription every six months from my hospital consultant. Although I ask for a new prescription long before my old one runs out. It still takes weeks for me to get one. This means that I stop taking it for anything up to 12 weeks. Is there anything as good for PPMS that I can just get my GP to sign for? Thanks Annemarie
Fortunately, ldn works well for me and I haven’t found anything remotely as good. There is no reason why a GP cannot issue a prescrition (mine does) and well worth asking. I shudder at the thought of going without ldn for twelve weeks and hope you get the problem sorted out.
Hi Annemarie,
I would definitely have a word with your gp and ask them for a prescription.
Wishing you all the best, and welcome to the forum.

Hi Annmarie, I have been taking it for just over a year now and would hate to be without it…my GP won’t prescribe it but although I have to pay for it …it does always arrive on time. I get it from Dickson home delivery pharmacy…if you contact them they will arrange the prescription for you as long as you have a letter saying you have MS. Their email is homedeliverypharmacy@yahoo.co.uk Best wishes, Nina
Thanks for the replies!
I’ve asked the GP before and he says it has to be the consultant, but I am going to try again! I have been paying for it from October 2010 (which I dont mind) it’s just the time it takes to get the prescription that bugs me! I have even tried asking for it months before its needed, but it still seems to be delayed. They only have to type out a few lines and sign it!!
If I get the prescription through Dickson the chemist they charge for supplying the prescription. So thats £15 per three month prescription, plus the cost of it per month.
Every time I stop LDN all the nasty symptoms it relieves start to come back. I have made a complaint to the hospital, but they said that it was unavoidable as the secretary to the consultant was having a bad time at work!!! They did say it would never happen again, but it has! Luckily, Dickson in Glasgow are really quick once they receive it.
Thanks again for the replies!!

I think it’s disgraceful that the prescription for a prescribed drug is not available in time. I would be hopping mad (if I could hop that is) and making a great deal of fuss about it. You should not be expected to be without this drug for weeks on end just because the hospital cannot get its act togther. I’m seething on your behalf.
