LDN ADVICE PLEASE

Hi Guys

I am after a bit of advice I contacted a doc which prescribes LDN private which comes at a cost of £190 for a

consultation I am wondering if this sounds right or can I get it somewhere else?

I have tried all docs round me and none are willing to help

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Sherrie

i saw a private doc for my first prescription. cost £150

my private doc would do me a repeat prescription for a much smaller amount.

a lot of people get ldn from e-meds

carole x

thank you for your reply what is e-meds?

Hi Sherrie, try a site called prescribe 4 me - the initial consultant fee is £30 and the monthly prescription for LDN is about £17, from Dicksons Chemist in Glasgow.

I believe e-meds is similar but I use prescribe 4 me and think several others on this site do too.

Best wishes

Sherrie, l have been getting my ‘private prescription’ through E-meds. You pay a ‘joining fee’ which l think is £20 - then you also pay for every three months worth of prescriptions. They send the script straight to Dicksons who charge £17 for the liquid.

l do not know about prescribe4me - but it sounds OK - But what you have been quoted is way over the odds.

Sherrie - I was lucky enough to get my neuro to give me a private script for LDN liquid (£18.50 per month). Even go on to the LDN Research Trust website and print off the info pack for GP’s and take it from there…

Good Luck

Hi

thank you for getting back to me, redman I tried that but they just wont entertain it which is pants

I shall look into both e-meds and prescribe4me lucky I came on here first to check this out

thanks everyone

sherrie, prescibe4me charged me £30 for the consultation the £18.50 a month for the ldn… Tony…

If you use E-Meds, you will need written proof that you have MS. This can sometimes be a bit of a hassle to get, but your GP should supply you with any letters sent to him from the consultant. This should be enough to prove it and get the ball rolling.

It is a £20 a year fee, then £17 every 3 months for the prescription and £18.50 a month for LDN in liquid form.
Not dirt cheap, but acceptable, considering it is all done privately.

After the first time, it is fairly simple.

Yes - you will need a letter confirming that you have MS - either your GP - or even MS Nurse - if you have one. Your GP cannot refuse to give you the letter - but they might charge you for it which is a bit mean. Once registered with emed or prescribe4me -it is very easy to obtain further scripts - you will not have to fill in all the details every time.

lt can’t be long before we area able to get LDN on nhs - its got to be the most cost effective med to help with MS symptoms and could save the nhs the expense of other very expensive meds.

Thank you all very much

do you feel the ldn helps i have primary progressive and everything iv tried hasnt worked

so decided to try this out

thanks

l have had SPMS for 30yrs - and LDN has been the best thing for me.

If you live in Spain, you can buy 50mg Naltrexone powder (in capsules) and make your own. But only if you live in Spain and you have to know your pharmacist. There is no such drug listed anywhere (LDN) and so people have to buy a year’s supply of Naltrexone (28 capsules) and make it up, but it’s a lot cheaper.

I can provide details on how to make it up into a solution. LDN worked wonders for me for about 3 years and now it doesn’t do much. I’ll keep trying it.

It seems (after reading loads and loads of posts) that with PPMS you need to start low and move up to 4.5 mg very slowly. It can cause dreadful diarrhoea - my Mum who has ME couldn’t take it at all.

I hope it works really well for you,

best wishes,

K
