There is no need to cut down on your ldn dosage gradually as ie prior to op - as the ldn is only in your system for 3hrs.
Unlike Amitriptyline - which you have to ‘come off’ prior to an op - and do have to reduce slowly.

They did say at the pre-op they could adjust the anaesthetic to take in account the presence of LDN, but I prefer to be cautious and stop prior to it. The recommendation I have seen is to allow 7 days for it to exit the system, so again I prefer to be cautious.
No mention was made of stopping Amitriptyline before the op and I did present them with the drugs. There was no requirement to do so before my earlier op. Of course that could be because I am on a very low dose of 10mg.
Hi Dawn,
Sorry its been a while since you posted but I’m an LDN believer and wanted to share my story with you.
I’ve been on LDN for just over 6 months. I moved up the dose a bit too quickly at first (I’m not very patient) and like you I was expecting miracles. I didn’t think it was working but it was my husband that noticed the difference. My mood improved dramatically, it was like my old, silly self had returned. I started singing and dancing in the kitchen (albeit very badly) and that was something I hadn’t done for a while.
Slowly I started to notice improvements. My MS hug was quite bad and it has almost disappeared, I get the odd squeeze every now and again to remind me but it doesn’t keep me awake anymore. The fogginess disappeared and my balance has improved. My husband caught me jogging in the kitchen and asked me why I was doing it…I said ‘because I can!’.
I tried going up to 4.5ml but I got really bad stomach cramps in the night so I went back down to 3 and I’ve stayed there ever since. I take the liquid because its easier to adjust the dose (and its cheaper). I would suggest keeping a diary of your symptoms and how you’re feeling so you can look back in a few months and see if anything (even the small stuff) has changed. For example, the postman has just knocked on my door and I skipped down the stairs without holding on to anything…thats a first!
To balance it out I still do have the odd bad day but nothing like I used to…fingers crossed it will stay like this and I will keeping taking the LDN until it doesn’t.
Good luck
Sarah x
