Knees and mornings?

Morning all, Quick question, does anyone else wake up with really stiff and painful knees and any ideas of how not to have this?

Mine is stiff hands and ankles.

Ms nurse told me to increase Baclofen at night. Thats all very well but it only seems to last 4 hrs for me,so if I wake early hours I take one to tide me through til morning.

I have to say though I tend to remain stiff until morning meds have kicked in and Ive moved around abit to get myself going.

Its lovely feeling as though your riddled with arthritis in your 90’s when your only 44 eh!

Hope someone can gives us both something more helpful

Mine are stiff feet and hands.

Like pip I tried Baclofen and found it unremarkable. My OH will tell you that all he hears every single morning when he asks me if I’m okay is ‘I’ll be alright when I get going!’ SO if you do find anything that works for us I would be eternally grateful…

I’m another one! I’ve been complaining of being “cronky” in the mornings since way before I was diagnosed. I was investigated for rheumatoid arthritis, because that tends to cause morning stiffness. Obviously, we now know it wasn’t that, but another big one!

Although I’m a big fan of Baclofen, like others, I haven’t found it lasts overnight, even though I try to take it as late as possible before bed, to get the longest cover. So mornings are always a challenge - especially the very first venture downstairs, before I’ve had my coffee and pills.

I’m usually stiff / in pain from my knees down to my feet. It gets less noticeable after a while but comes back again after a period of sitting. Haven’t been offered any meds for it - maybe I should ask.

l did try Baclofen and Tizanidine - must be about 20yrs ago. They made me so weak and feeble that l could not ‘function’ at all.

For the last 3yrs l have been using Sativex. l only use it late in the afternoon and before bedtime. lt helps with spasticity and pain without any side-effects.

ln this weeks Pathways mag - [MSRC] There is info on new research which states ‘‘Sativex at a dose of 10mg/kg is seen to be as effective and more importantly -has shown to be better tolerated than the first-line treatment currently used for MS related spasticity,Baclofen.Hence, we would regard Sativex to be a potential new contender for the first-line treatment of spasticity in treatments with MS’’.

Also a supplement of magnesium and vitd3 will help with joint pain.
