Just for fun!

What is the.worst hotel you ever stayed at? Not accessibility wise…overall! I had the misfortune to stay at the Carter (NY)…long story, not my choice, it was stll known as the murder hotel!

Many years ago my family and I stayed in a hotel in Portugal, Praia da Rocha. It was awful, part building site, part tip. We self catered, and ate out. Shortly after it was featured on a program called ‘holidays from hell’.

At the time we were young, inexperienced and didn’t complain .

Well, it was nearly 50 years ago, so I don’t remember the specific name of it, but we were traveling through the Deep South of the US. This was back in the days when you could cram as many people as you wanted into a room, so my parents had one bed and my grandparents had the other. I got to sleep in a sleeping bag on the bare floor that was covered with a heavy layer of dust and random dead bugs. The windows were equally bad, and I remember that none of us used the shower. We’d only stopped there because it was late and the drivers were desperate for some sleep. We intentionally got up well before dawn so we could get out of there.

Now you’ve started something.
We went to Florida approx 28 years ago, first holiday as a married couple.
We drove down from Orlando to Key West one day and my husband was tired on the way back so we decided to find a motel. It was called Aladins Motel I will never forget the name. It was like something out of a film. We paid through a window and walked past an open room door with men playing cards on a bed.
On entering the room I noticed how dirty the bedclothes were. I laid on the bed full clothed, didn’t sleep and we went to Denny’s before dawn. I was terrified but the story is still told.

Sounds luxurious compared to the Carter, where the bugs.share the bed! Lol

You always remember the bad ones! After a fortnight at the Bellagio (Vegas)and an unfortunate reaction to a pastry, we ended up at the Riviera room had unlocked connecting doors…not.much.sleep there!

Is it finished now? lol, never complained either, would have fallen on deaf ears anyway!

Definitely will never forget it. We were young and stupid but if there was a connecting door there I don’t think I’d be telling the tale.

A guest house in Waterford springs to mind. Pink nylon sheets, and the amount of pubic hair in the shower was phenomenal. One night was quite enough.

Oh I remember lots of b&b’s having nylon sheets.lol (or not)
