Hi I have been suffering for sometime now with pain under my left breast just on top of rib cage. And shortness of breath. Worse when lying down. Sometimes find myself gasping for air or when take deep breaths in I cant seem to be able to finish it so feel not getting enough air. I believe it to be MS hug. But went to see GP yesterday just to get checked. My doc on holiday so had to see diff Doctor. When I said MS hug he looked at me as if stupid he obviously never heard of it. Anyway checked me out blood pressure, chest etc ok. I have to go get chest xray and all other tests as precaution but he thinks pain on my rib cage is inflamation and prescribed me naproxen. But i read about naproxen. And says can bring on a stroke and heart failure and listed loads of side affects that require urgent medical attention should u take any of them. Some of side affects are pain at top of ribcage. Breathlessness. Dizzyness. Headaches. Pains in arms going up to neck and jaw. This is all symptoms I experience on daily basis. So I am scared of taking this drug. So my question is If this is MS hug would this drug work anyway?
Hi Violet,
I assume you have been diagnosed with MS.
If so, do you have access to a MS Nurse?
If you don’t have access to a MS Nurse you’ll need to talk to a neurologist. Which could take ages. GP’s don’t have the specialised training for neurological conditions, Earlier this year my doctor told me that he just does what my MS nurse advises.
In answer to your question, if it’s the MS hug, Naproxen won’t make any difference. If the tests show that is an inflammation the medication will be different than if you a symptom of MS. Which leads us back to MS specialist’s advice.
Sorry I couldn’t be more help,
Regards,
Anthony
