Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had attempted or had success getting any sort of critical illness cover since their MS diagnosis? From what I’m reading, it seems pretty impossible to get any cover as anything classed as a “pre-existing” condition will be excluded? It’s something hubby and I discussed last year after we got married and a close friend of mine got diagnosed with cancer but he decided we were both young and in good health and not necessary (we also had access to private medical care through work but did not take it out either)…hindsights a b*tch! Now he’s been diagnosed, I’m just trying to consider future planning for us as although we are fairly financially stable at the moment, if he has to stop working, or I have to reduce hours to care for him, it may leave us stuck. Thanks X
Hi me and wife looked into never got round .then got a diagnosis… But since I have looked into no one will touch me .apart from life insurance… But critical illness cover apparently 9times out of 10 do not pay out on rrms anyway…
It’s probably oo late for your husband to take out any critical illness cover worth a damn, but it’s not too late for you. As you have had good cause to observe, one never knows what lies around the corner. Please consider getting yourself on cover while you can. I wish I had done so when I still thought I was invincible and that bad things only happened to other people, not to me.

Morning all. Mine paid out on diagnosis at the beginning of last year: RRMS.
I think of it as the silver lining of the cloud! So glad we had it.

Hi
mine paid out on diagnosis as well, which we were amazed at as the process was straight forward.
i do remember having many shall we shan’t we conversations before we decided to take the cover.
not sure about being able to get cover post dx but as our cover ceased on payout, we are looking to get a new policy to cover my wife, just in case
in truth I thought I was bullet proof and would never have to use it but so glad we took it out in the end
