I had a phone call today from social services saying that I have been assigned a social worker and they are aware of my current living situation, desire to move out and problem’s I am having trying to find a new property despie 3 Doctors reccomendin I move out.
Problems I am having with my mother and other day-to-day physical problems.
She will call me back tomorrow to ask me more questions and probably come out to see me and disscuss further options, ways foward and hopefully get me in touch with more social groups and ways to develop a social life.
I am also hoping she may be able to help me find my own property and assist with getting me moved up the wating list for suitable bungalows.
She also said that she needs to come out and see me and my aunt will allow me to use her house to chat with her and go through all the paperwork and red tape.
Hi, that all sounds really good, things do sometimes suddenly just turn around. Don’t be afraid to tell the social worker all the problems you have, no need to put a positive spin on it. Cheryl:-)
Im in the process of trying to get social worker for me and my son, but being passed from pillar to post. Just how do you get one? gp supposed to refer us, and gave me a self referral number. Seems they dont know who to assign our case to?
I wish you luck with yours, if she/he good theyll help you find suitable accommodation and give you useful group contacts so you may have a social life again.
dont get your hopes up too much. I live in what could some day turn into a very violent situation due to a very inconsiderant flatt mate i also live in an upstairs flatt and my social work put a report in on the situation and my local council just ignored what was said and left me on the same banding for a flatt
Hey Bren, my aunt contacted the access to social work team in my local area and I just had a meeting with her and a local O/T both of whom are linked to my local independant living team.
They sounded very helpful and will try to get me moved up in the que of applicants for rehousing.
And yes UpyTidy I did lay it on thick and tried to make things sound as bad as possible and hopefully gain more points in my favour.
