For a brain and full spine MRI roughly? I have mine at 8am in the morning and am quite claustrophobic. I’ve taken diazepam before which relaxed me but am wondering whether to risk it and be brave tomorrow?

The actual scan for brain and spine should take about 30 minutes, I think…trying to remember Lol.
I don’t like closed in spaces either and always let staff know this. Make sure they put music on for you. I close my eyes as soon as I lay down and the ear phones are on…childish I know but it works for me. I don’t open them again until its all over.
I spend a lot of time imagining myself in far away places. If diazepam works for you, then no point playing the martyr…up to you of course.

Thanks blossom! Well I can’t take the diazepam now as my daughter has chicken pox so I’m gonna have to get the bus and leave her with mum! Mum was gonna drive me but she can’t now. I thought it might be much longer as my last brain MRI took 25 mins xx
Try and forget about the time…it will pass quickly…just keep thinking of other things and listening to the music. And keep your eyes closed 
What about a nice treat afterwards, if your a good girl lol…I do any excuse for a treat, works for me

Hi - I had my second MRI earlier today & was fine till I got curious & opened my eyes!
So very good advice about keeping eyes closed & listening to music!
Let the staff know you are anxious & remember you can use the button to call them if it gets too much.

Took about an hour for all of the brain and spine MRI’s I had in December, they broke it into chunks though for repositioning etc.
