I’ve recently become unable to transfer from my wheelchair to my hairdresser’s salons chair to use the basin for washing my hair after colouring etc. Does anybody have any ideas how I can find a hairdresser where the wheelchair will fit under the basin? Sadly the chairs in my current salon are fixed.
I very much want to carry on using a salon rather than trying to have my hair done at home, (assuming that whatever Covid adjustments they install will still allow this to happen!).
Most salons have backwash systems these days…which is no good for us wheelie folk.
I found one who had a gents basin…theat`s what she called it. I could sit forward…but it was a problem for me, as I have a catheter and squashing it can make it bypass.
Best solution for me is to have carer do the colour at home and then I go in the shower and she rinses it off.
I go to salon for cutting only.
I have an appointment for a good cut after covid lockdown…on 28th July!
You may have to try a mobile hairdresser who has a mobile adjustable backwash, they do exist! or if you are on good terms ask the salon…you are probably not the only client who has problems, may be worth them investing in one.
