With my recent relapse I’ve been suffering with hot flushes that I can only describe as “menopausal women’s flushes” , however I’m only 14. I’ve been reyt sensitive to temperature (feeling ill when I’m in a hot place), I was wondering wether anybody else gets this problem ? They start at my toes and work up, lasting for 5-15 minutes.

Hi Beth
I had a very big relapse when I was diagnosed and for a few years afterwards I overheated very easily. I have been known to strip down to t-shirt in mid-winter and I’ll sit down anywhere for a rest as I can feel quite faint. My feet did used to feel too hot most of the time as well. I am in my forties though so could be menopausal although I don’t think I am just yet. Luckily for me I didn’t suffer too badly last summer so I think it’s all changed again and, in fact, this year I have had trouble keeping my feet warm. MS loves to keep surprising us, doesn’t it?!
All I can suggest is that you wear several layers so you can peel them off as you overheat. You can also buy cooling neck scarves that you soak in water and they help to keep the back of your neck cool. I would advise you to be careful with your feet when outside because I have ended up with chill blains when I have thought my feet were too hot when in fact they were cold! However if you are indoors you can keep hot water bottles in the fridge and place these on your body/feet when you are having a hot flush moment.
Hope this helps, get well soon

Thank you for the reply! Thank you for the warning, about my feet, because I do actually get most of my heat sensation changes on my feet! Brilliant idea bout the hotwater bottles in the fridge, now that’s one I hadn’t thought of!
It deffinately helped!

Yes! I’ve always had this but the other way around starting in my face. Absolute pain in the neck!
yes I get this too! I am the one sat in the office in a vest top and sandals … In December with all my colleagues shivering at the sight of me. Mine is an all over feeling, like someone turned up the thermostat in my body to about 90 degrees BUT in summer when we go to France and it’s silly hot I am fine . No one can explain it (but at 40) my neuro today suggested in his words “premature menopause” …I could only reply an indignant “are you having a laugh?” But it got me thinking and googling … Sorry don’t have the answers but your def not alone

Hi Beth
I have struggled with this for about 8 years now. I constantly have a fan next to me and when I was working I had an air cond machine next to my desk. When anyone came into my office they always wore a coat. Lol. It is a pain though.
A chillopillow is also a good idea as they keep you head and face cool.

Beth, even though I was diagnosed with MS ages ago & thought I had suffered most/all of the side-effects, clearly not as have only just started with this & yes it’s driving me mad & I am not a delight to know at that moment. T Can never cool myself down quickly enough despite stripping off various items of clothing - will try some of the suggestions. So you post made an interesting read & I do sympathise. For your info. I am way past the menopause age so it’s definitely not that! Regards, Shane
