Hot feet!!!!

I tend to get a burning sensation in my feet after they have been numb for a while. The burning isn’t severe and I actually find it quite encouraging because it seems to precede the fading of the numbness which I really dislike. Physical activity can often trigger it. So, in my case, I find it an encouraging sign that a spell of numbness and fatigue is fading and I will improve a bit.

I have had a thing which I succinctly describe as a ‘hot sock’, for several years now, from since before my diagnosis.

It typically comes on in the evening, usually after a hectic or activity filled day.

No discolouration to the foot, ankle or calf. No difference in skin temperature to the touch. Just one of those sensations of heat that is so severe, it is like when you genuinely get very very cold; so cold it feels like it burns.

I cannot say that i have tried anything to manage this symptom. I just mindfully reassure myself that it is literally ‘all in my head’; that my foot is not actually deprived of blood or is on fire etc… and i concentrate on getting rest and ultimately just ‘sleeping it off’.

I hope that i do not sound dismissive; i do acknowledge that when compared to others, my hot sock is very mild. i share the above to merely say that i (literally) feel your pain and that adequate rest seems to be advantageous.

All the best

This is true for so many aspects of this bullshit disease.

It is difficult to qualify the burden of a relentless presence, of something which by itself, sounds so benign.

hi

i woke up earlier with burning feet, just the same as always.

my ms nurse prescribed capsaicin ointment but i didn’t try it because you have to wash your hands straight after applying it.

if i put it on when going to bed, then have to make the trek to the bathroom to wash my hands - well it wouldn’t work for me.

i bought a can of magicool which gives a couple of moments relief.

mine was from amazon but they sell it at tesco.

carole x

ps i also bought chillows for myself and my husband.

they worked a treat until mine burst and i woke up in a puddle!

major panic thinking my incontinence was going crazy until i realised that my chillow was flat!!
