holiday south coast UK

Hello all

I have had a request from a fellow dutchman, who unfortunately suffers from MS too, for tips regarding accommodation in the south of England/ at the south coast, as he is planning to visit England for a period of 2 weeks, starting 8th of August.

He is wheelchair bound, and for that reason needs the accommodation, preferably something like a youth hostel etc (he is married and will also be accompanied by his son who is ‘late teens’), to suit his needs.

Anyone who can help?

Thank you

does your friend need a hoist for transfers? There is a body called CHUC…ceiling hoist users club.

I need hoists and look for places that have them, but if I cant find anywhere, I hire equipment in.

There are lots of companies who hire things out.

Google CHUC yeh?

My mum’s husband is also wheelchair bound, and they’ve stayed in places in Brighton and Eastbourne; I’ll ask mum to remind me of the hotels they’ve used. Some were very good, others didn’t seem to cope so well… but I can’t for the life of me remember which was which!

Fracastorius.

I appreciate the reactions I have had so far, I will pass on one and another! ‘Bedankt!’…

Mum says…

“The hotel we stay at is Queens. It is is right on the front, just opposite the pier. is able to get his buggy in. There are 2 lifts which go to all floors with a wheelchair lift from reception it also has parking. For an extra charge you can ask for a room with a sea view. The hotel, like a number in Eastbourne is somewhat under the control of Alfa Travel, tele: (removed by moderator), which take coach parties there, at a reasonable rate. If you live in the north or central England they will give a place of pick up. You can also contact the hotel direct tel: (removed by moderator). The building is a little old but kept clean and tidy and the staff are helpful.”
