I thought I would start a new topic on hobbies.
What is your hobby now? What were your hobbies before MS?
Im 54 year old male living in the beautiful County Durham in the UK. Scuba diving, photography and videography used to be my main hobbies. I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia in 2017. That put a stop to the scuba diving. I continued my photography and would regularly be up and out 5am to photograph anything, landscapes, cityscapes or street photography. All was fine until 2020/21 when walking for miles taking pictures became really difficult and tiresome so decided to get a drone, this way I could fly for miles and not have to walk very far at all
Obviously the UK weather doesn’t lend itself to using a drone all the time so had to find something else … Woodworking with reclaimed scrap wood and turning it into something that looks and feels beautiful. I have recently been diagnosed with SPMS, feeling fine for now so just cracking on until I need to change my hobbies again

Hi FF cracking image. It looks like you had skills as well as passion. I used to love my photography and got to use some great kit. Eventually my MS meant I could no longer walk for hours or carry heavy camera and lenses. I then got a very light bridge camera which I can operate single handed. The images are not the greatest quality but at least I can still enjoy getting pictures. I have combined this with a new found pleasure from watching the local wild birds and wildlife

Hi Mogace,
I used to be the same, I would hump around a load of camera gear only to find I used very little
I did make the change to a lighter weight tripod which was great, but the walking was still the issue. It’s good that you’re still getting your photography fill, I did see a few of your other posts with the bird photos, they are great. I have a load of bird feeder in the garden and love to see and hear them come in to feed.
Love your photo of the highland cattle in the water, nice shot. I hope you were ready for a quick getaway
Thanks luckily I was on my Tramper … the cattle did not move for ages and when they did they made me look quick!
