Hello there, I am very unwell & need a diagnosis. I want to see a neurologist PRIVATELY & QUICKLY. I live near Cheshire but, if I had to, would travel. Can you recommend some drs? SNAG: 1. As I am extremely LIMITED now physically I need to be admitted & scans done during admission. I have insurance. I have blurred vision, spinal problems, losing cognitive function, the oddest tingling, pricking & burning sensations. Total exhaustion not relieved by sleep. I am extremely worried & emotional. Hi Beth, I don’t live near you and am definitely not an expert, but do you have a Nuffield hospital near you? Their website lists their consultants and their specialities, it might make your search a little easier. Obviously this does not replace going to your GP who will probably need to write you a referral letter anyway.
Hi, I was in The Walton Centre, near Liverpool last month. The neuros there are top notch and do a great job. Ask your GP to refer you. x
I saw a Neuro privately and it was a really bad experience, saw one on the NHS and he was brilliant… just saying don’t assume it will be better
I saw the same neuro I paid to see both privately and on the NHS!
Beth you have to see your GP first. they will refer you to a neurologist and then you can if you like see them privately.
I would think if your as bad as you say which sounds scary they should come to the house and see you and get you to hospital perhaps.
You dont mention any support of family.

I have seen 2 neurologists privately, and I have seen the same neurologists via NHS one was as useless in private practice as under NHS. The other one who was brilliant in private practice, then referred me to his NHS practice and he was brilliant there too. There is luck involved, keep looking until you find one that you have confidence in and who listens. Good luck.
