Hello, I thought it was time I started using this forum again as I often read other’s posts and find everyone’s comments and experiences very helpful. Although I would not wish MS on anyone, it is nice to know there are people who would understand the ups and downs of my own life! I used to have another user name/password, but have long since forgotten them and have decided to re-register and to recreate myself as ‘Mouse’ (a childhood nickname).
Briefly, I am in my late 50s, was told 30 years ago I ‘might’ have MS, was lucky it was very benign initially, but has been progressive now for about 13 years. I struggle on, but get very tired trying to cope with as normal a life as I can.
Welcome aboard the good ship MS. It can be a stormy time for us but also flat calm with posts of everyday adventures as well matters nearer to MS symptoms and particular types of MS.
Hello again. Thanks 4 your welcomes. I had a hospital appointment Friday last week about how I was feeling emotionally and coping with my deteriorating health and felt so much better as I left because I had talked. I find it very difficult to tell people I love how awful I feel and how frightened I am. Which is why I am reaching out to you kind folks now.
I used to be GMJ but I doubt anyone will remember me as I rarely posted as I felt my knowledge was limited and others would be better at helping than me!
Pleased to meet you. I’ve not posted for quite a while either. I started a new job in January and I don’t get so much free time now. I used to work term time only and often popped on here to see what’s happening. Now I work 9-5 every day. So far so good although I do get tired and have to save all housework/chores for the weekend. Fingers crossed I will stay healthy. At least now I don’t have to worry about my tax credits being cut! I’m on Gilenya and it’s doing the trick for my MS so far. I thought I’d better show my (virtual) face again …
Well done with the new job Elmo. I hope you are enjoying it. I work fulltime too, but spread my housework/chores over the week as find them more tiring than being at work, which is just a desk job. But it is whatever works for you.
One reason why I did not enter into discussions in my previous incarnation as ‘GMJ’ was because I had no experience of medications, treatments etc as DMDs weren’t around when I was first diagnosed and I only take Gabapentin now, so I feel I have little information to offer.
Hello Rat - I expect there is as good a reason for your name as why I decided to call myself Mouse.
Being a Mouse, I am a bit apprehensive about ‘Catwoman’ … and Shazzie and Ssssue to be honest … but we will all remember Jerry always got the better of Tom.
