In July last year I started geting muscle twitches in different places and when I looked them up the causes that were suggested was anxiety or MS.That made me worried.I have since had a painful shoulder and neck and some constipation.Yesterday I started to get tingling in my right hand.I also have a speech problem which I have been putting down to a TIA I had in September although that could be caused by MS I believe.In early 2020 I had very bad anxiety about a breathing problem and made numerous visits to A+E only to be told there was nothing physically wrong with me and it was all in my head otherwords it was anxiety.I had several sessions of accupuncture which worked fine so am wondering if I am suffering from anxiety now.I am having a telephone appointment with the GP tomorrow and will see what she thinks.Sorry this was so long and thanks for reading it.
I forgot to mention that about 2.30 this morning I woke up and my shoulder was really hurting and it felt like it was burning if that makes sense
Anxiety can cause magnesium depletion. Magnesium deficiency can cause tingling and muscle twitches, and cause anxiety. A bit of a vicious circle.
That’s the problem with anxiety it can mimic a lot of serious health problems. I had breathing problems and chest tightness on exercise this summer after life long anxiety. In my case manager t may have been inflammation post covid as inhaled steroids seem to have helped.
I haven’t been diagnosed with MS, but having some neurological leg symptoms and weakness that’s been persistent for years that I’m having investigated. It was all put down to a possible disc protrusion that wasn’t actually visible on the scan 8 years ago. It’s being re-investigated.
I think persistent numbness and tingling or twitching is always something to contact the GP about. I know the feeling of worrying it will all be put down to anxiety and not wanting to bother health professionals, but better to have it looked at.
I spoke to my GP on the phone yesterday and she has referred me to a neurologist so have to wait to see what they find.Not sure when I will get the appointment but will post the results on here when I get them.
