'Happy Valley' MS comment!

Anyone watch ‘Happy Valley’ last night? There was an MS comment… 2 people talking about another bloke’s wife and one said “She’s in the early stages of MS. Uses a stick. Sometimes a wheelchair”… ‘Early stages’ jarred a bit. I suppose because it makes it seem like MS follows a course which is the same for everyone. Anyway you do get to see the wife in ‘early stages’ so maybe they’ll develop her character a bit… esp as her husband set up the kidnap of a young woman… now that sort of stress is bound to make her symptoms worse!!! Pat xx

Hi Pat, Early stages! I must admit I was a bit surprised. I am looking forward to see how her character developes so I will reserve judgement. I am with you though, her stress levels must be through the roof ! I only started watching it as my husband has a Sarah Lancashire thing going on which is a throw back to corrie a few years ago

Hey, it is filmed in my neck of the woods! It is funny when we hear them mention places, with slightly changed road names. I`ve spotted several places i know;

Stoodly Pike monument in Todmorden and the market and viaduct in the town.

Halifax town centre

Parts of Sowerby Bridge, where they have the poor girl locked up.

It`s a brill programme and so violent in parts. That poor lass was raped, wasnt she? Isnt he a bxxxxatrd?

What a mess he made of the other lads` face!

The MS menton wll be interesting to watch if/how it develops.

Cant wait fo next week`s episode.

Poll I thought of you when they mentioned Halifax!!! Must say the countryside around there looks wonderful. I actually went to Hebden Bridge and Todmorden years ago… was lovely. Pat xx

Looking forward to watching it…and understanding what you’re all talking about! I get a bit muddled with these dramas these days so I record the whole series and watch them closer together…if I wait a week between episodes I’ve totally forgotten what was going on! Nina x

Watching it made my symptoms worst. Hehe

I could be naughty and ask what type of MS this character has, and then post something sarcastic…but I wont.

No, CP please don’t go there. Enjoying this drama though.

I agree, CP don’t you dare even think of going there!! Nina like you I like to record series and watch them closer together but watched both episodes yesterday. I’m enjoying it too, I must say that BBC have made some very enjoyable drama series. And I’d like to see how her illness progresses, like you I’m wondering about mild ms. I wonder if they have a moderate and severe type and how they classify it. Too much thinking, I’m off to bed for a rest.

When they said early stages, I assumed the writers just didn’t know enough about the condition which is par for the course considering how difficult it is to understand the whole MS thing. Are we being button holed into the same category of many of the more well understood and documented (or should that be publicised) conditions? It’s remarkable how much a passing statement can reveal! As for the programme, we love it!

Best wishes, Steve.

Agree Steve… very difficult to understand it and we’ve got it. At least they have a disabled person on it. Let’s face it, most dramas live in the Land Of The Able Bodied… in other words, La La Land! It is a good drama… though I don’t like such explicit scenes of violence… it’s like we can’t see anything now without a scene of a woman with a badly bashed in face. Although I watch them I do wonder what it says about society when almost every single drama is about violence and murder. Pat the Hypocrite xx

Glad everone is enjoyin this great new drama.

CP, please dont, pretty please, pretty please with sugar on it…no more …

luv Pol
