Hi. I rarely post, sorry to just barge in! I have been having visual and auditory halloucinations. Luckily I know they are halloucinations. My simple question is, is this an MS thing? I have PPMS and no drugs except amitriptyline at night for neuropathic pain. And the occasional cocodamol if I need it in the day time (not prescribed do low dose) Appreciate anything you can offer Thanks Anita
Hi there!.
I take amitriptyline and sometimes have quite vivid dreams…but I dont have what you`re having.
Not heard of it as a common MS symptom.
Mmm?

Hi I have ms and on Ocevus infusion(now on hold),I take Amitriptyline with no real noticeable ill effects .I am also a community psychiatric nurse .I can noT use cocodamol because on both occasions of taking it I experienced hallucinations which were short lived after they were out of my system.Hallucinations are not listed in possible side effects however as with all medications individuals react differently .
Are you sure you don’t have a underlying infection i.e UTI.
If the hallucinations persist then consult with your GP
Hi I remember having vivid dreams with anti depressants a few years ago . I didn’t like it some were quite disturbing. Michelle and Frazer xx
Are these mild symptoms like seeing things out of the corner of your eye, and your name being called? If so, yes I have those and I’m on morphine which is an opiate. Codeine is a mild opiate, you may be very sensitive to it. If you’re having worse hallucinations you need to do as Kerste suggested and consider whether you have an infection. If you’re unsure and can’t go in to the GP surgery, get a phone consultation.
Even mild infections can cause symptoms that seem quite serious. Please don’t blame everything on MS, I’ve done that to my detriment. Take care.

I regularly have hallucinations, more so lately (but only when I’m asleep) and at first it was a bit disturbing but now my subconscious says " nah, you’re only dreaming". Especially if I’m having erotic ones ![]()

Hi. Why don’t you Google Sleep Paraysis. I suffer with this a few times a month. I appreciate that it is probably my meds, but very unpleasant! x
