Good evening all. I hope you’re all well.
I have RRMS and, for a while now I’ve been having to shave and clip my finger and toe nails a lot more frequently. It’s no big deal but, I thought I’d ask If anyone else experiences this?
I’ve checked both my antiseizure medications and, aparently they’re more likely to thin or make me lose some hair and, possibly alter the way nails grow (shape or texture).
Jon.
Hi Jon
I was diagnosed in September 2024 and spent the rest of that year in hospital and rehab and I found my nails (fingers and toes) grew much longer and stronger than before. I don’t know if it was because I wasn’t doing so much, ie work or because I was possibly eating differently. Now I’m at home the growth rate has slowed slightly but not by much.

Good point Morag
Thank you for the reply
… I have been taking cod liver oil capsules and eating better for the last 2 or 3 years so, it may well have something to do with that - it’d be niceif my myelin follows suit
Have a good day x
Jon.

It could be the cod liver oil, I assume in my case it’s not using a keyboard or just generally doing less with my hands. Not my choice I have to sa.
