Hi Adrian, thanks for the reply! Always doing my best…diet vitamins etc but need to look into adding a few things too. I only take vit d3, k2 &magnesium as well as following OMS type diet. My new relapse started with numbness in my right hand and sharp pains in my middle & small finger as well as my thumb as well as being stiff and unable to grip tightly! I was sent for an xray to check for arthritis & had bloods checked for RA. I got the all clear. I was then referred back to my ms nurse who then prescribed oral steroids which I finished on Saturday morning. On the same day, at 4 pm I started getting sharp pains in my temple, which I’ve had before - Trigiminal neuralgia. The pains got worse during the night so called 111 who gave me an appointment with an out of hrs doctor. I was prescribed carbamazapine but the numbness has affected my face and neck and my taste buds aren’t working! I’ve taken the day off work to wait for the hospital to call me back and rest up! So will start my trawl of the internet and possible treatments…maybe Lemtrada! We’ll see… Glad you are doing well. Take care. Sharon x
I take 10000iu’s a day of vit d3, starting with 5000iu, but upped my amount after further reading and blood tests showing my levels weren’t at max optimal level, which I believe is 175. It’s important to also take vit k2 and magnesium.
All reading and research I’ve looked at regarding Magnesium, suggests that either Malate or Glycinate are best ?
At the moment I take 400mg of Glycinate daily, but did did take Citrate for years, but then read that Glycinate was better absorbed ?
My D3 levels have taken 4 years to reach 119, and that’s taking 5000iu daily.
MS clinic have recently advised to drop the dose to half because my recent problems of developing kidney stones.
OK. Why vit k2? I haven’t heard of that being taken for MS. Doesn’t that thicken your blood? I swear by vit b12. I would give that a go. I’m taking 10,000 iu vit d3 too. It really improves my balance.
Ok. I’m quite happy with my levels of Magnesium. It got rid of my neuralgia. My levels of vit d3 were very high because I was taking 10,000iu. I put it up recently because my balance was beginning to go and it has done the trick.
Apparently vit K2 is a must if taking D3 ? I’ve only just learned this myself so I’m not fully aware why ?
I was prescribed this by my gp when I was 1st ide.tified as having no vit d. Aparrently it helps to make sure the vitamin d is absorbed in the right places. The K2 Revolution....Vitamin D's New Best Friend Sharon x
Thanks Sharon.
Thanks for that.
Welshboy, so happy for you, hope this makes for a great Christmas for you & those close to you. It’s great to have good news
Thanks Sue. It is really good to have some good news and that was really great news. Thanks very much.
I look at the clinical trials that have been done with diabetes type2 using lifestyle, producing great results. Surely the same can be applied to all autoimmune diseases including MS. Swank conducted trials in the 50’s using diet and supplementation alone and a lot of his subjects are still around today.
