Grant for air conditioning?

Like many of us I’m really struggling in the heat, and it’s not going to get any better in the long term with higher and higher temperatures. I really want air conditioning in my bedroom but the price is out of reach for me. I’ve read that it’s theoretically possible to get a local authority grant for this purpose, and I’m interested to hear if anyone has been successful in getting funding for air conditioning?

My symptoms are so much worse in the heat and humidity. I’ve been considering booking in to my local Premier Inn just for the lovely air con.

Morning @perky, this is something me and my hubby have talked about, as like a lot on the, the heat is a killer, but we’re planning a move in the next couple of years, so don’t want to go to all that expense, but we have considered a portable air con unit, there not too badly price, some cheaper than others, so just in case you get knocked back for a grant, this could be the way to go + you can move it around your property.

If you are on PIP, it is investments like this that the PIP payments are intended for. To improve your quality of life and make independent living more manageable.

In the meantime, I’ve spent this afternoon with a gel pack from the freezer on my head!

I have a portable air con unit and i couldn’t be without it now it was £200 and something if i remember correctly and got it using a finance intrest free. Before i got that i had a fan and you can put cold water in it or ice so it blows cool air and that was alot cheaper and cheap to run. I also have air con in the car, its worth it as the heat makes me non functional. Hope this helps and i can write a link for everything ive mentioned if you need it.
