Hi.
So I’m up still at 4.30am worried about seeing my GP later today! I’m so worried he will think I’m a hypercondriac.
So I’m 36, classed as morbidly obese and have a fibromyalgia diagnosis.im worried that the GP, will think everything is down to my weight…which I know could be right.
I have so many symptoms, although mild for many. But the back pain has been so severe for years that I have had to give up my job as a nurse after 16 years.
So, sorry for the big rant/moan…I’m wondering if anyone can relate to my symptoms.
I have an awful back, walking is very painful.
I have had bladder surgery in the past for incontinence but it has suddenly got bad again, like I’m up through the night having to go.
I have a numb patch on my left leg which has slowly over a few years spread from fist size to knee to thigh size.
I’ve started getting random pins a needles in my hands and feet.
And Ive been getting these head rushes, like dizzyness that only lasts a few seconds.
The hardest new symptom is stabbing pain in my feet and the side of my head.
Im wondering if my fibro diagnosis was wrong. Has anyone else had anything similar to me or am I going crazy
I hope that the appointment went well. And I hope that the GP listened. I hope that you get a good one who sees past a person’s weight and looks at the whole person - that’s what GPs are for and a good one is a wonder. Fingers crossed you had a good consultation and feel comfortable with where you got to and where to you from here.
Write a list of all the symptoms / ailments you have currently. Include the issues for which you are already receiving treatment as well as the undiagnosed ones. Give your Doctor a copy so you can both read down it. That way you can be sure not to miss anything and he/she will know whether they’ve covered everything or not. It also exists as documentary evidence that you brought those issue to their attention.
Hi Jib, how did you get on at the doctors? I have read many posts on this forum that whilst ms is their main diagnosis they suffer with other issues. This can be true of fibromyalgia.
It can be easy to put everything down to one thing. This happened to me with a number of primary conditions in their own right, initially being overlooked. I did have to keep going back, but got there in the end.
I hope you were able to list, as was suggested, what you needed to highlight. I have found doing so to be effective and led to a number of referrals both past and present.
Thanx for the replys. It went ok with the doc. I did get out my list😂. He said he agrees it’s strange. I having blood tests then going back to see him. He doesn’t think it is ms but hasn’t ruled it out and said depending on what blood tests are he might refer to neuro.
He tested the strength in my body and said it’s equal on both sides so that’s good.
Maybe I am being dramatic x
Jlb - I completely understand your concerns and tbh, I think my being morbidly obese contributes to why I’m still waiting 8 years on for confirmation of diagnosis.
I was “lucky” when I stumbled across a great locum GP the other week who realised diplopia can probably not be diagnosed as “fat”.
In a cruel trick of fate - I have the lean muscle mass of a pro athlete, so am generally not wobbly. But the last 3 weeks I’ve lived on a cant!
It makes me very cross to hear that people are pleasantly surprised when a doctor pays even basic attention. It really shouldn’t be that way, should it?
