Giggling madness

Hi everyone

Can you please let me kw if anyone else giggles at inappropriate times. I always seem to especially on important stuff like going to the hospital seeing the social worker etc.

I kw I like to make people laugh but not looking like a fool.

my family members kp saying I look mad and that people think im retarded!

nice NOT

Laughing is closely linked to fear.

That’s why people find themselves laughing at ‘inappropriate’ moments.

What they are revealing, in fact, is an inate fear of the situation.

Once you know this, it is a powerful piece of information. Instead of feeling furious that someone is not taking some momentous news seriously, you now know they are actually in a state of tension and nervousness.

Hi Jaz

The same. I pi55 myself laughing at some serious moment, then laugh all the more when it is frowned on.

I’ve always been able to see funny sides to things though. Usually the more serious, the more funny.

Hi Jaz,

Have a look at the website sections on emotional lability and uncontrollable laughing or crying. They’re possible MS symptoms:

http://www.mssociety.org.uk/what-is-ms/signs-and-symptoms/mental-health/other-issues

I do NOT mean that everyone who has a dark sense of humour, or is able to see the funny side when others can’t, has something the matter with them. But if there’s genuinely no humour to the situation, and you find yourself giggling at times it’s inappropriate or embarrassing, there might be a neurological cause.

If it happens when you are seeing the neuro, and they ask what problems you’ve been having etc, you might want to mention it. Then you won’t look or feel like a fool, and they will understand this is an aspect of your MS you’re having some trouble with.
