Getting diagnosed with MS

Hi there, I am new to the forum. I have been suffering for many years with a number of ‘mystery’ symptoms and it is only recently that I realise many of them seem to be typical of MS. These include extreme and debilitating fatigue (to the point where I have days that are difficult to get out of bed), blurred vision and a feeling of being ‘spaced out’ and faint in public places (the greater the crowds, the worse it is), numb and tingling skin (just lately also waking up with bad pins and needles down the side I sleep on, weakened bladder, brain fog, overall weakness in bones and muscles, and recently muscle loss and weight loss, anxiety and digestive issues. My GP has been quite dismissive as routine blood tests have shown very little. I know, however, that my health is deteriorating now more than ever and I really need to be urgently tested. I have a seven-month-old daughter and I barely have energy to look after her. I would welcome any shared experiences and suggestions for getting help. Thank you.

Hi Kezza, have you told your GP everything you`ve mentioned here? He/she doesnt sound to be looking after you very well. Is there another partner you could see?

Unplanned weight loss isnt a good thing.

Maybe you need a really good rest…afterall , having a 7 month old will be hard work! Do you have family support?

Hi kezza I am beginning my journey of assessment but had gone to gp before and mentioned my worry re MS. As it was isolated they didnt take it on board . This time there are more of them and for longer/ ongoing so retrospective joining of dots done by me now too. Can you see another Gp? If not then persist and think hard about current and past issues and ask them what THEY think it is then. If not attributable to one thing then they need to consider them seperately at the least. NICE guidelines give guidance on how GPs should tackle neurological symptoms in adults. Dont be frightened to learn the jargon or challenge. Its your life and body. And any gp that ignores unintended weight loss is a fool Good luck
