Gabapentin and Indigestion

Hi everyone

Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Just wondered if anyone else has suffered indigestion once starting Gabapentin. I am on 900mg per day and have just started getting indigestion. I know it is indigestion because I have been having bad burping probs too. (Sorry if too much info).

I read the instructions and it says that indigestion can be a side effect but just wondered if anyone here is suffering too.

i was taking 900mg daily at first but cut it back to 300mg

then a few weeks ago i got a bad case of the ms hug and started taking 900mg again.

then i remembered why i’d cut down - horrible bloating and wind.

i felt like a pregnant hippopotamus!

so now unless my nerve pain is really bad, i wont be taking any.

My GP insisted on Lansoprazole to be taken once I started on Gabapentin.

Glad it’s not only me.

A pregnant hippo Carole, that is a good description.

When you get the hug bad Carole do you get bad pain? Mine used to be just like a tight band but lately it is really painful.

Hi Shazzie I’m now on 900mg too. I must say I did seem to be burping a lot to begin with but it doesn’t seem too bad at the moment! It certainly hasn’t helped my heel pain at all. The MS hug slightly but no miracle to speak of!! I’m off to see MS nurse tomorrow so see what she has to say?? Linda x

the first time i had the hug it was painful but only lasted an hour.

this last one was excruciating, felt like my ribs were cracking. it lasted 4 weeks

still have remnants of it and my ribs feel bruised.

i’ll ask about lansoprazole too.

Hope you get on ok with the MS Nurse Linda. Sorry to hear you are suffering too.

And Carole, your hug sounds exactly like mine. Really painful.

What a thought t imagine us all belching away. You’ve got to laugh. My MS Nurse aso said that I may get hair grow where it has never growm before. Attractive eh?

Hahahaha!!! Perhaps we could apply as a double act. Not sure that the burping would go down well though. Lol!
