What a mess!
Would like to see the ânext threadâ and âprevious threadâ buttons back again to allow me to catch up with whatâs been posted without going back to the main forum page every time. I also had problems logging in!
It seems the posting history on my homepage is now limited to the last three, which isnât terribly useful and miss being able to see all of them, as before. On the bright side, I am pleased to see the unnecessary âgeneral discussionâ board has been removed.
I hope the list continues to get smaller.
I couldnât log in, it seems to have forgotten my password.
And then it seems to have forgotten me, I had to enter my details again.
It seems to have forgotten then I have read all the messages in my in box.
Not a seamless upgrade.
PS: And my avatar has gone.
And its far too bright.
Donât say change it under preferences as the other options are just as bad.
Can we at least have the old colours back again please. This is not nice.
Once again, apologies for all the confusion and irritation. We are working through your issues and complaints as best we can.
Re: the question of why did we âfixâ something that wasnât broken. We didnât have much of an option.
Like a washing machine for which you can no longer get parts, the previous operating system was in danger of becoming obsolete, with ever decreasing options.
We delayed the upgrade for as long as possible, until it became no longer viable to remain on the old system.
Obviously, we wish the transition had been smoother- and weâre very sorry for the upset it has caused.
Best wishes
Stewart
It does beg the question as to how other forums can perform major upgrades with nowhwere near as much fall out as there is when this forum is upgraded.
i think you made a bad choice in the forum software you you picked when you moved form the old one a couple of years ago.
an upgrade should not lose user content or indeed lock them out.
Its not so bad if you are a bit tech savy, but if you struggle normally then this has not been good.
This is not an IT forum, it has people with a whole range of computing abilities on here and I canât see this has been good for them.
I believe the MSS is rightfully careful of how, and where, it spends its money and this forum only represents a small minority of MSers. Better to spend precious funds where they are really needed methinks.
Yay, Iâm on today. For the past few days it was convinced my password was incorrect but since my (locked) PC remembers me I knew it was correct. I decided to leave it for a day or two and Iâm glad I did.

Whoopee!!! Iâm reading through this and just noticed like tab back
Hi Stewart, sorry to bother you I know you must be busy, I am not receiving notifications and am unable to read a message that was sent to me, I can only see the heading of the email.
I have subscribed to receiving notifications but theyâre just not coming through, thanks Wendy
Hello Wendy.
When you go on to your homepage, do you actually click on the âmy messagesâ link ? You should then see all your messages

Hi Stewart
On the old forum, when adding a new post to a thread, there was a âreturn to forumâ link below the âPost new commentâ box which got us straight back to the main page. Can we have it back please?
Also could we have a smiley for âworriedâ and/or âfrightenedâ. I feel these are emotions that are very pertinent to people on this site. Currently all weâve got is âsadâ or âfrownâ, which really donât convey life with MS very accurately!
Many thanks
Emma
I spoke to soon - it threw me out again and Iâve had to go through the whole request a new password rigmarole even though I know very well what my password was and was using it!!! I have reset it back to the password Iâve always had because it was so easy to remember and it is very personal to me and I am quite certain that no-one else knows it. Grrrr!! I was on holiday last week so when I wanted to check in on the forum I didnât have time for this âŚ

Hi Elmo and others,
I am testing the copy and paste problem at the moment and working with the developers to fix the issues you have raised. Apologies some are taking more time to get to the bottom of than we would have hoped.
Details of any issues really do help, please continue to post as much information as possible about the problems you are experiencing.
Again, sincere apologies that youâre having to post about issues with the forum at all.
Kindest regards,
Steph (admin)
Hello,
I have been away from the forun for two or three nonths. I got a terrible schock when I returned, the whole thing is too clunky. I you receive notification by emal then why is there an extra screen with an extra mouse click? Is there a simpler way to be informed of new updates to threads where you have made a contribution>
I have a problem since the upgrade, which I never had before. If I add threads to my favourites, they do not appear on my favourites list.
Just to add detail, I have the option of taking a thread I have added off my favourites again, so the thread is marked as a favourite but it isnât on my list. Iâve added this one as an example:
