Hi All. Thanks for your support. We’re very fortunate to live on a little hill close to the sea and although our roads looked like shallow streams our houses remained dry. I feel so sorry for those affected. I can’t imagine living terrified every time heavy rain is forecasted, or having my house flooded. My home is nothing to brag about but it’s my sanctuary.
All of the town’s around us are flooded so we can’t go anywhere and no shops received paper or milk and bread deliveries but we’re thankful dry. We even still have electricity which in itself is miraculous add we lose that often, each room having candles or torches available at all times.
I hope the rest of you are warm and dry, my thoughts go out to any of you affected.
Take care
Cath xx
Thank goodness Cath we were all so worried about you.

I’ve been watching the news with much sadness, it’s dreadful water is so pernicious it’ll be months before those affected get back to normal, then a future of worry and dread. Did I just miss it all in years gone by or is it only the last dozen years or so that we have suffered so many floods.
Min so pleased you live on your little hill and have avoided catastrophe.

Sorry Cath I shouldn’t have put Min

Jan that’s what my dad has called me all my life so it doesn’t bother me at all. There are definitely many things I’ve been called that insult or hurt me but that’s not one of them. I find that a name sometimes makes the person you’re talking to a bit more personal which with a group like this helps when you’re talking about things you wouldn’t think of talking to strangers about.
Take care everyone and thanks again for thinking about us. Hopefully my daughter can get to college tomorrow as there were too many road closures today. It’s heart breaking listening to the local radio when you hear about people asking for food donations as they’ve had no power so everything in the freezer has gone off and they’ve no money to shop so the kids are hungry. I want to feed them all!!! There’s always someone worse off than me! I won’t feel sorry for myself again…

Saw an item on the news last night about how everyone in Carlisle was pitching in to help the victims with food and accommodation, and with moving furniture around. We moan about how bad society seems to be these days, but things like this remind us that the majority of people are caring and kind.
Stay safe, dry and warm everyone.
