Does anyone have a few alcoholic drinks on the weekend? I asked ms nurse and she said it’s fine no link with causing relapses, I’m currently doing my best to eat more healthy but fancy a few but worried it might cause issues
A drink here and there isn’t going to wreck your progress as long as you’re paying attention to how you feel and not overdoing it
Might have 3 or so cans nothing silly , do you do the same ?
I did 5 once, so I can give you the green light. But it depends on how your body reacts, so if anything feels wrong, you should stop.
In any case, I would 100% say go for it
I have buddy
Thanks for replying
Hi Shay, I’m partial to a glass of wine or 2, beer is not my go to. It has never occurred to me to stop, apparently it’s ok in moderation. I’m believing that.
Glad I did , enjoyed and relaxed,
so much so I’m gonna do the same tonight
Me too and I’m sure that I read somewhere that a glass or two of red wine might even be good for those with MS - not sure why.
Who cares why, for once I’m prepared to follow the rec ommendations
Indeed - and I do very occasionally drink 4 or so glasses ( probably not a good idea - killing off a few more brain cells!)
Looks like somebody is having a blast. Just don’t do that every day, my dude. We don’t want you to get wasted as hell.
Have a good time again
I have a few glasses of wine or gin and tonics at the weekend.
I’ve got a nice bottle of red for this evening. Enjoy yourself it’s later than you think
I’m not really a wine guy, so I want to ask (that is, if you’ve drunk beer before): does it feel different after drinking wine instead of beer?
Hot topic this
After 2 years of being teetotal, I think I may have a sip or two this noel and stay close to the gents , in case of urgency to urinate.
don’t know about anyone else, but I asked my consultant if I should lay off alcohol… he replied that I should lay off cheap rubbish, nothing to do with the MS but just because the good booze was nicer!
So I personally think we should stop beating ourselves up about this. I have SPMS, 18yrs in now, I have a couple of glasses of red wine every teatime and I don’t care, red wine is supposed to be good for you, it’s the time me and my hubby get to sit down and relax and chat about what’s going on, we don’t have a social life, haven’t done for years now, so this is our social time, we don’t go mad, we’re not silly, so my advice, be sensible and enjoy.
Cheers Jean x
Two pints of wine certainly feels different to two pints of beer
I had MS onset a few months after becoming TTotal cold turkey. If I could turn back time I’d have a glass of wine a day.
I gave up alcohol completely about 10 years ago when I began taking Baclofen. I thought I would struggle but it was easy to give up booze. I suppose that if you enjoy a few beers and it’s not causing any problems, then there’s no immediate harm. However, I urge caution in the future because bladder control might become a problem.
